i am sorry, so we are not real persons here? internet is only a means of communication, it doesnt generate anything on itself. i can only be as real as i can. and i refuse to understand, how using a forum to communicate makes me less real.

People have only been using the internet to communicate with each other for a decade or two; we simply haven't evolved to derive the same comfort from speaking to each other through such interfaces as from doing so on a face-to-face basis, the way our ancestors did for millions of years in some form or another.

in fact, for me (and quite numerous other ppl) its much more comfortable. i dont have to struggle with body language, i dont get overwhelmed by my visavi's loud/highpitch voice, accent etc. thousandfold accursed eye contact, no issue. there is only words, and that makes it so much easier. u dont feel that way, well, its just u. please dont speak for entire humanity. also i think we should stop sidetracking this thread, on this note. topicstarter, please forgive me.

now on topic. labels dont matter. i dont have official diagnosis, that doesnt make me less autistic. only thing that matters, is to find what suits u. what makes life easier. a single stimtoy can bring whole new level of QOL (that is only an example, everybody has different needs). how u identify urself, is ur choice, but whatever special needs u have, u need to define them and adress them. deprivation can kill. dealing with it, can bring new light to ur life.

guardian demon, over.

I have never found professionals helpful at anything.

You have to be willing to be helped and understand that there are no shortcuts.

And how can you assume I wasn't? I got misdiagnosed and all this "talk to a therapist" bs is like showing starving kids pictures of food and telling them the food is there.

How are you feeling today? Some of us here understand the despair of useless or even harmful therapists. (Some have been helped. We aren't all the same.) Please post and let us know how you are. I really do get the bs of much of the techniques masquerading as help. So your participation would be good for me too (if you don't want to do it for yourself.)

For some people, typing into a computer is the best way to communicate, or even the only way to communicate. I know some myself. So I do not think it is strange or "less" to communicate this way. We are a lot of people here and we do care. We are also normal, fallible human beings. :D

Because you have expectations that it won't work. I recognize that's not something easy to overcome, but if you don't trust in the process, the process will not work. Much of therapy centers on trust. If you do not have trust, you are fighting two battles which together are almost impossible to win.

You need to give yourself the opportunity to try. If it fails, it fails and you move on and try again.

Being skeptical is different from believing it won't work. If you're skeptical, you're not sure it's going to help, but there's still a possibility. If you already accept that it's going to end in failure, you're going to work to fit your conclusion.

Sometimes it doesn't work, sometimes you're trying the wrong approach or you have the wrong doctor, but you have to keep trying because there is no other choice.

As has been said, we've been there. We know how hard it is and that there will still be stretches of time when you've slipped back into your old patterns.

We also know that having support, whether it's family, friends, or strangers in a message board can make a world of difference. Sharing emotional burdens can help, if you have trust. That is up to you, however.

I didn't at the beginning. That's why I went there in the first place. Stop talking as if you knew me.

No we do not know you. But we see a reflection of you in ourselves.

But that reflection may be distorted by our own experiences. I will defend the OP in this case. If he says he has tried therapy and it did not work, I believe him. Maybe there is some future in which some kind of therapy might help, but that is not the case, for him, for right now.

I understand that many people on the forum have been helped by therapy and that is wonderful. It truly is. I see it as a great blessing. But there are incompetent therapists, therapists who don't understand autism, therapists who don't have the foggiest notion of what is it like in our heads and in our lives.

So that is my reflection of what I see in the OP. :D who I do not know. and could be totally wrong about. :D

I've added today to the list of one of the worst days in my life. Wish I would've choked all those years ago.

I am sorry to hear you are still in one of the worst downturns ever for you. Please remember that if it is unbearable, call a suicide hotline, or an ambulance and go to the nearest ER.

Almost everyone on this forum has had days, weeks, months, that have seemed intolerable, but are now glad they persevered. People here want to help. You may want to post a more specific problem or explain more what is going on.
