Well done on making that healthy move sarahsmith. I suppose that's the difficulty for people who've had a close relationship with alcohol, getting into interesting habits that are less instant gratification than a drink would be. That's going to be something I'm hoping to figure out.
blazingstar, I think with the support of people on places like here we can all achieve a lot more. I appreciate what you're saying, not worrying too much about trying to fit in.
Getting support from people on here is the catalyst for me moving forwards a lot of times. After the help in this thread I found it easier to ask my mother for help about something too, and when I talked a dilemma I had with her (whether or not to order a hot meal to be home delivered) she convinced me to check the fridge more properly and I realized I had vegetables I could use, and cooking wouldn't be as hard as I thought. So it was like a chain of events set in motion from this thread.
After I cooked some rice and had raw onion, boiled mushrooms and garlic and soy sauce, lemon juice and sesame oil I felt a lot better. Then I started watching TV and saw something on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives where someone was using Old Bay Seasoning on a meat instead of fish. So I looked the seasoning up and the info said celery salt was one of the main ingredients, something I've never cooked with. Then I ordered some celery seeds I can crush myself and it made me feel excited because apparently it's part of the secret KFC recipe, and although I don't eat KFC I know that taste is quite nice so it could improve my future cooking. I also read about a health benefit of celery seeds that they dislodge uric acid which can help with joint pain so I'm looking forward to seeing if I feel any stronger when I have some.
