It is entirely legal to defend yourself, another person or your property in the UK. You are allowed to use "reasonable force" to do so. The law is designed to strike a balance between allowing appropriate self defence and preventing general violence, revenge attacks and vigilantism. The problem is who considers what’s reasonable

The courts get to decide what is reasonable based on the information in the link I gave above. This is how it should be.

The original poster is from England which would suggest UK law is rather more relevant.

That's awful.

There are crazy ass low self esteem jealous individuals in the world. And sometimes they get dangerous. But ones that extreme are few and far between in my experience.

Reminds me of that song "Gimmie Three Steps" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
