Does Medicare reimburse you for what you bought?

Pretty sure they don't, from previous efforts getting my own. They would pay to rent a "hospital bed" but not buy a recliner.

It sounds to me like you are taking positive steps to adapt to the increasing disabilities. I have found making purchases such as you did with the recliner really worth while. And having someone to "walk" around to get stuff is good. Good choices will continue to serve you well. You have demonstrated your capacity to make good choices and I suspect you will continue to do so. Good luck and I hope things go as well as possible for you and your husband.

Thank you for the kind words, blazingstar. Not judgmental at all! Merely supportive. :)

Remember to take care of yourself too. Ask for help when you need it. A lot of people are willing to help with specific tasks but are often afraid or find it awkward to ask if you need anything. I've found that if you ask for something specific (and perhaps not too daunting) most people are more than willing to help.

Until this physical problem happened to the spouse, he had been making the breakfasts (which are fairly routine and easy) and I did all the other cooking. He loaded and unloaded the dishwasher. Now, I have pots and pans accumulating on the stove, and I've made breakfast most of this week. It's definitely been draining and discouraging.

At the same time, he is one of the most appreciative people I've ever met, and thanks me so warmly for everything I do, I certainly can't resent him. All I can do is feel overwhelmed. And I do feel grateful that I have such a kind and loving person in my life.

Sounds like you have your hands full and manage to keep a positive attitude about the whole situation. Best of luck to you two.

My mate is also my caregiver. It grieves me beyond words how this has constricted and wilted her life; she deserves so much better.
May peace be with you.

Piobaire, my husband also feels bad that he has become dependent on me and become the recipient, not the giver, of care. So let me pass on to you what I say to him: "You give my life meaning, and I have never been so loved by anyone in my life."

It's possible your mate has similar feelings.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say that your peaceable and forgiving presence in the WP forums has been admirable and valuable.

You do enough.
You have enough.
You are enough.
