No progress made on a lockable cabinet or a monitoring/tracking device, other than discussing these with him. If he really wanted to escape, he could cut the device off his wrist. He could pick or smash any lock. Naturally, he did not feel he needed any of these things. I pointed out that his "judgment" is sometimes lacking. He really did not have any answer for that.
Sometimes I mull a purchase over in my head and then, seemingly, make a quick decision. It's not as quick as it appears, since weeks or months have gone into researching and planning until, finally, I feel ready to decide. I'm leaning toward a 2-drawer locking file cabinet, although I think those are very easy to unlock without a key.
Another problem I am having with him lately is that he wants to get into everything I do, often hovering just behind me, offering to help, and so on. This is difficult for me because if I say I don't want any help, he feels diminished and not needed. The obvious solution is to devise inessential tasks to set him to, but of course that increases the mental work I have in completing anything. Currently though I do ask him to open or close the drapes and water my more unreachable house plants.
