Well it's not as if I'm expecting perfection from anyone, rather than seeing these big problems as anyone's personality, why can't I just help people open their minds?

They don't see their biased and prejudices

And they certainly don't see it as you "help" them "open their mind"

Wordplay

Euphemism

They act like they are perfect and I am bad and wrong

That's why
Open mind is not necessarily a good thing

Open-minded to what, homophobia?

"Help" is not always a good thing

Mussolini was :skull: helping :skull: the Gestapo

Well it's not as if I want to significantly impede anyone either. Sure, I'm nervous around my friends but we at least established they're still good friends. Some people I know played a big role in me being alive in recent years. I want to stay in touch more than I'm inclined to believe any of this.

At least I'll be out of my office today setting up my house.

The real problem is anxiety about contacting people. When things go silent I just start assuming they wanted me to go away.

Trust versus mistrust

Homophobia

No matter how close you get to someone, you can't know everything about them

Precious lil "people". Change. Positively and negatively

Situational versus dispositional

Anyways I asked counselor Jeanne Courtney, how I knew she would not  hurt  me

Answer "I am not a mean person"

Oversimplified

Correct statement

Kind people  hurt  people

Every action and statements "helps", "hurts" or neither

Some actions "help" some people and "hurt" some people

If someone shot me with a gun, that would "hurt" me. And "help" the medical supply industry

"Help" and "hurt" are for the alleged victim to state

Anyone could say that anything "hurt" them

I'm not saying people whose help I appreciate haven't hurt me, my point is that they're worth knowing better anyway. For the most part, my life as a kid was infinitely more difficult than the way things are going now. There's some friction among friends but I really don't blame them for being anxious around me either. I'm just giving everyone time unless I need to get something done with them right now.

I should have stated that a theme of my thread is metacognition. I think knowledge of self is something I want everyone to gain, I was about to say it's my greatest asset but doesn't that presume I magically know enough? I'm trying to learn about myself through people who know me.

***Also please don't post full names in my threads.***

For future reference I think hurtloam was right on about anxiety distorting perception.

I don't want to fault the kind people in my life for not conforming to my expectations. I conform to no expectations.

Sometimes expectations are necessary, involuntary, subconscious, or natural

Sometimes you don't know what you were expecting, until expectation violated

There is no law that says they have to conform to your expectations

But when ozben brought the dog to the dojo , that was a Leash Law violation

There is however an unwritten rule which states in no uncertain terms that expectations are by & large pointless anyway. If we can relinquish our stranglehold on normalcy, my friends & I might get along a lot better.

Well I'm moving tomorrow & I'm pretty freaked out about leaving my cat with my dad, not to mention being closer to my friends. I don't know how I'm going to pull all this off. I need to start my resumé SOON. The only reason I work this hard is so I can keep up with friends wherever we all go, I just hope my efforts hold up.

Probably nothing. Otherwise they would be knocking on your parent's door asking for you. You need to have to offer people something they want. Life is about trade offs....

Can we please focus on anything else, the immaterial? I'm trying to offer up more of myself if that's what you mean. I'm hopeful enough I can give people more than just what anyone can buy.
