Surgery scares me so much that I would almost rather s**t myself. What if they screw it up? What if it just makes it worse?

Its just that, er um, its in a sensitive area.

The most terrifying part of surgery is before it happens. I kind of laugh about being so worried beforehand, because while the recovery wasn't much fun, the whole thing wasn't all that bad looking back. And I am so happy with the results. What goes on in the mind before getting it done is a lot worse than what really happens.

As far as function afterwords, maybe they will have you on a liquid diet for a little while afterwards. Once you get over that initial pain hump that lasts 3 or 4 days (at least in my experience) the rest is downhill from there. Vicodin is good stuff.

Hopefully a doctor would give information on this but, what if Im constipated the day of the surgery? Wouldnt that complicate things? Every once in a while I get constipated for a day or so....

You'll have to take strong enemas the day before surgery, and you'll be required to fast.

That's true for many surgeries, actually.

But then...maybe you don't have to have surgery.

Or maybe the laxative stuff they give for colonoscopies. My dad had to do that. Not that bad of an experience he said, just don't plan on getting off the toilet for a while.
