Non sequiturs can still be coherent, otherwise you wouldn't be able to say, "aha... a non sequitur".

I'm quite a master of the non sequitur irl... usually because the conversation I'm listening to is so mind-numbingly boring (like talking about football) I feel obliged to change tack. Appropriate... no, coherent... yes, stunned silence... definitely.

Can you give me an example?

Perhaps you have trouble relating to his perspective, but it doesn’t mean that others do.

I'm not sure if it's actually my bipolar disorder that causes me to act this way or something else? Maybe I just have a lot of unresolved anger issues?

TW1Z, Our friendship goes back a long time on PM and on the threads, through both of your usernames and all of your breaks from the forum. You know I would tell you if there was a problem. Personally, I've never seen you write anything incoherent. I don't read your long, political posts in PPR because that's not my interest and I know nothing about American politics, but your general posts and comments are clear, in my opinion.

Carry on. :P

Lots of people have very strong feelings when it comes to political issues. People fight about this stuff all the time.

I think that you are sensitive which might make you take some things too personally.

Maybe try to keep in mind that opinions are opinions. Not much is going to change based on one person’s perspective. I think we’re gradually embracing more liberal values in this country as a whole. (Yay!)

Think about how far gay rights have come in just the past couple of decades! It’s also great that we live in a country where we can discuss this stuff openly.

Everyone tends to get at least a little riled up over things that are near and dear to us.

There was no such concept as "gay marriage" back in the 1980s. Many people could not conceive of such an idea as gay people getting "married" back then.

Progress tends to come in waves. We push forward then regress a little. We push forward then regress a little. The overall trend tends to be progress. We’re pushing forward more than we are regressing.

That's why I was careful to preface my statement with "I myself". I don't think it's good idea for me to give an example as it might turn into an argument.

Twilightprincess I guess that's true. I feel like in some ways progress is taking a step backwards at the moment and it sucks. :(

I don't hate Wrong Planet, I hate myself because I've always had poor impulse control.

You shouldn’t hate yourself. I like you.

You can over-react sometimes or get carried away but I've never had problems understanding your posts. If you can, try to let go of that comment, it was a long time ago and it could have been caused by all kind of reasons (like wanting to upset you) that might not necessarily be relevant.

As a side note, you're one of the extremely rare people here who can and will admit they made a mistake and even apologise 8O You're an endangered species and I hope you stick around
