I don't think humanity ate the mammoths to death - didn't they become extinct? I seriously doubt it was because of our prehistoric ancestors. Not saying they didn't eat any but there was plenty of other stuff around too...

SarahS is right - most people are good despite there being such a prevalence of evil. I guess evil makes more noise...

@Jimmy: I was joking. You sure seem pretty ready for any contingency though! Let's hope you never need it. But even useful in the event of a hurricane or whatever other unpleasant phenomenon may come your way.

As Mr. David Morton explained
if an asteroid or any other massive disaster happens, i am afraid it is out of normal folks range to do any thing about this. So if NASA or the other governmental agencies can't do anything about it (and the real superman can't)
then well, at least it should all go off with a bang.

no point worrying
as worry changes nothing

if it is definitely going to happen then perhaps take all your savings out and buy
ice cream and alcohol

make sure its not an "end of the world is nigh" scare though
as you may end up skint haven't blown all your money

although if everyone did it
it would likely be enough to end a recession

I disagree that humans are boring though. I just don't think that is necessarily redeeming.

Cataclysmic research is one of my special interest. So that not only includes understanding the scope of danger they present but also developing civil defense solutions to ensure humanities survivability.

I wouldn't worry about it. We have at least a trillion other things to worry about.

Right now I'm worried I can't control my feelings of hatred for the entire human race anymore and I'm turning into a psychopath and I'm going to be locked up in the hospital just like I was years ago before my diagnosis with Asperger's.
I hate late summer because that was the time of I first started acting like a psychopath, and it got worse and worse as the holidays approached.

True, the odds are in our favor, although if it happens, it sucks. Even so, it really isn't worth much to worry about, there are more likely ways we can go. I'm 53 and I remember the tensions in 1983 over KAL-007 when the Soviets shot it down and a few weeks later, Soviet radar picked up what was a massive US ICBM attack, but it turned out to be an accident, what saved the USSR and the rest of us was one Soviet Captain who said that he wanted to "hold his horses" and he was right, it was bogus. That latter was not revealed until the 1990's. I was getting my driver's license at the time, yeah, we had tension but the 1980's was a great time, really. Well, I'm a big 1980's junkie. Anyhoo, if I take it back 20 years, Mom was worried during the Cuban Missile Crisis. My father served in the Army from 1955 to 57, first in Korea and Japan, later on to White Sands, New Mexico. Back then, you did your two years, although my father was not drafted, he volunteered at 17, and after you were out, you were on 5 years inactive reserve where they can call you back. 1962 was the 5th year and my father got his final discharge, much to Mom's relief.

I guess, just live you life to the fullest you can and enjoy it as much as you can.

I find that interesting too. I remember the "Crisis Relocation" plans from the late 1970s and early 1980's.
The Soviets had a huge Civil Defense system using subway tunnels and so on, they really put a lot into that.
