Facts:
Where I work(unnamed hospital) construction was carried out WEEKS ago; we have a Covid19 department, red signs outside, DO NOT ENTER. Our management knows what they are doing!
In Florida, I forget which city, ALL ICU beds are full in ALL acute hospitals in town.
Yesterday a 30-year-old man died. In Florida, of course; he told his nurse as he was dying, he had gone to a Coronavirus party.
The grocery store I go to almost daily does not allow you in without a mask; someone pulled theirs down once they got inside; I went to the manager.
He was told that the mask MUST be in place.
This is an excellent thread; I appreciate a place to vent about people being a deliberate threat to others...a deadly threat!

^Glad to hear you have sensible employers! The university where I work has been pretty good too. They started ramping up their precautions a couple of months before the government bothered to do anything. To be fair to the Idiotic Public, this probably gave us a head start in understanding the situation.

It’s intentional. Public education has been gutted in order to turn out stupid people just barely smart enough to go to work and make rich people richer. So much easier for the ruling class to manipulate and control stupid people than it is to try to turn hundreds of millions of smart people into subjugated wage slaves and cannon fodder.

The problem of the day is that one of your wealthy people, who is also one of your stupid people, was elected into the highest position of ruling class authority by mobs of stupid people.

No matter what Executive Office, CDC, WH0, local Health Department, or employer says is necessary, WE know to wear masks, distance, isolate, WASH HANDS, wipe every surface you can reach with an alcohol or bleach- based cleanser/disinfectant.
When a deadly organism is loose, you do the MAXIMUM.
You are responsible for protecting your SELF.
You cannot make rules.
You cannot make others follow the rules at all times.
When you go to a street protest w/o masks, crowded together (happened in my town), when you go to a 1,000 person Florida beach party , no masks, crowded together, people wind up sick.
Some die.

exactly. the system is not "broken", in fact it's working exactly as intended....crank out pawns and cogs to keep the ancient upper class fat and rich, on their third hearts and second livers, who should have died decades ago, and keep the rest of us just barely smart enough to work the machines, but not too smart that we start to wonder why we're here, or, in fact elect someone who actually has out best interest in mind instead of falling victim to s**t propaganda.

keep it up....

A county adjoining the one in which I reside has just issued such an order.

I think we need to show less tolerance for Libertarians, they aren't "good guys" by any means.

And I think we need to send authoritarians to Cuba and North Korea where they won't need to think for themselves. This is not their country and they need to get out as this is a libertarian country.

Well hasn't gotten better here as far as I know...and they think its a great idea to send all the kids back to school. Not a good idea but well its happening so I guess we will be hearing of a lot of kids getting covid. And not even the public transit is enforcing masks, sure it says on the buses you have to have a mask but yet tons of people get on without them and drivers don't even say anything. Some do, some even have a box of disposable masks to give them to people who don't have one but its just so inconsistent its ridiculous. Its like it depends on the bus and driver you get. Then of course at my work is very obvious we don't want people trying clothes on in the store, and what are tons of people doing in the store...of course just trying on clothes in the isles. Its like what is even the point anymore...apparently everyone is too self important to consider anyone else.

Libertarianism holds that you should do what you want as long as it's not hurting people. Not wearing masks = hurting people.

And what about due process or common law? I could see if someone had it , but to place a blanket order by a central authority just empowers them. If we are all equal, then why does some geriatric in DC or elsewhere appear more important than everyone else?

Perhaps because living or dying shouldn't merely be a question of averages? The geriatric is more important because they're more vulnerable. And taking basic steps to protect them isn't hard work.

If you think anyone less fortunate in life than you deserves to die, purely for being poor or sick or old, you're essentially an anarchist who doesn't believe in civilised society. And furthermore must be prepared to fall on his own sword.
Chances are one day you'll find yourself vulnerable in one way or another.

If protecting the most vulnerable in society means wearing a mask, it's time to man the f**k up.

I'm assuming you mean the USA, right?

I personally think this country is so stupid because Americans suffer from what I like to think of as collective narcissism.

Maybe it's something in the water? Or our food? You know lead pipes are what made the Romans so whacky...

Damn- they really need to start enforcing that stuff.

Are they at least implementing distancing and hygiene measures at the schools?
