Most movies have a person who has a Masters Degree in Business Administration hiring the director, sound, marketing, negotiating contracts, hiring actors, planning expenses vs. revenue. It is hard to learn budgeting for a project on your own. You need to get partners for a movie. Look for venture capital investors, pitch your movie to an investor.. but don't give them so much info that they steal your idea! If you can make a movie for Netflix or HBO - that would be the best. Try approaching them about it.

Oh okay. I could pitch to an investor but I have worked on other people's movies who have had investors, but the investors posed restrictions on them, which made the director's jobs a lot more challenging. So are investors a good idea therefore?

^You'd have to be absolutely sure what any contract says before signing anything, so you are aware of any such restrictions which would limit your creative freedom.

Oh yeah for sure, I am just wondering if it's worth signing such a contract at all. Filmmakers I worked with, had to be contracted by investors to worth with certain actors who were very difficult to work with for example, so it would depend on if that is worth it or not, to funding from an alternate source.
