If they write bad stuff to you because of it for a day or two, just ignore that it ever happened unless it bothers you a lot. Just wait for it to die out. Of course, if they keep doing it for a long time, then blocking the ones who do it is in order, in my opinion.

I agree with fireblossom. No-one should be harassed for their political views unless it hurts them or others, and yours doesn't. I'm sorry your family are like this and I wish I could help.

Yeah. If my family believed it was fine to say things like that I would want nothing to do with them either.

When my husband started swearing at me, I considered it disrespectful and completely unacceptable and I told him so. When he continued to swear at me I left.
"But everyone talks like that" he whined afterwards, "that's no reason to leave me".
Oh yes, it is. Why should we have to put up with any kind of misogynistic or abusive talk?

They are the ones supporting rude, insulting behavior, not you.
They are the ones sending Facebook messages that antagonize/upset people, not you.
They are the ones who are telling someone how to think about a situation or person, not you.
As a halfway measure, is it possible to send a brief message stating that any future messages containing the word ‘Trump’ will be deleted without being read?
And that further messages with that topic will CAUSE you to block the sender (s)?
