It would actually be cool if you cooked for your family a few times. That's one way they'll notice a "change" in you.

Careful with Asian women, their cultures teach them to be diligent and ambitious. While they do like to "catch" white men, they will have a lot of expectations, and will assume a dominant and condescending position if given a chance. You can't show weakness to them.

Self-care (I have my own shower and can wash my own clothes as well as my bedding), I make my own appointments and actually pay out of my pocket to see my therapist because the state no longer covers me on therapy (They think I’ve been in it for too long), I can make phone calls, I make/buy my own food if my family makes something I don’t like, I clean my room as well as my cat’s room and if any surfaces are dirty, I organize my own stuff, and I fill out my own income W2 forms.

I also pay for my car’s oil changes, inspections, and registrations.

You actually already have quite a few independent living skills. You don't need your mother's permission to take your social security away from her and to sign a lease or move out. You might make a few mistakes, but look at all the things you're doing right! You maintain employment, even if you don't much like that job; you manage several business affairs (car maintenance, taxes, etc.); you manage your grooming and laundry; you can make phone calls if needed; you are able to cook, at least minimally.

Trust me, there are adults living independently that are a lot less functional than you are! I mean all this as a compliment.

Eh, I don’t know. I once saw a cute Asian girl with a Legend of Zelda T-shirt and a Hello Kitty backpack loving on a “neckbeard geek” and overweight Anglo guy wearing tattered clothes. He was the total opposite of what I was told to be if I wanted a girlfriend which was to pump iron, shoot harmless animals with a machine gun, dress like a yuppie, eat cheeseburgers at every meal, guzzle gallons of beer, root for any Republican president, and go to church every Sunday even if I wasn’t going to truly live a “Christ-like life”. I also saw another Asian girl with a similar guy except he was skinny, had no facial hair, and wore glasses.

I used to be friends with someone who had his own house but still called mommy and daddy for everything despite how he was older than me.

Being a neckbeard doesn't mean lack of achievement.

I call my parents to consult regarding a lot of things. I won't have whole lot to talk about otherwise. Could I get by without? Probably. Do I do that just so I would speak with them? Likely.

I was referring to how people in the culture I live in tends to be harsh and judgmental. People who get the “neckbeard” tag are derided as lazy people who only play video games and are virgins. My mother wanted me to pump iron and dress like a yuppie because she thought it would impress my supervisor to the point I would get a higher position. Well, I found exercise frustrating and dressing like a yuppie was not fun, especially during the summer. Two other people who played in a punk and metal band respectively and always wore band T-shirts got promoted to higher positions. I am not saying this out of envy because I honestly don’t want a higher position at the library. I am saying that the expectations that were shoved down my throat were wrong.

You'd likely feel quite good about yourself if you planned some meals and made them yourself, for practice. You can do online shopping with curbside or delivery to get the ingredients. Online allows you to take your time, watch for sales, and keep a running total of what you're spending before checkout. You can use online recipes or even the recipes on the sides of boxes / cans, to get ideas. I'd start small with sandwiches, melts, wraps, or something like a tex-mex chilli. You don't have to feed anyone else if you don't want to. Even making eggs or salads is a nice start. I'm sure your mother would take notice but ask her to give you some privacy as you build your menu.

I have made scrambled eggs before. I forget if you have to include milk with them or if that’s optional. I do remember how to make guacamole and was told I did a good job at it.
My mother makes it a lot and I took some to one of my friends’ homes for a party he was throwing for his mother and he asked if my mother was Mexican (This friend is Hispanic). His mother also accidentally set the piñata on fire! :P

I found this a lot, especially the ones my mom convinced me mattered.

I don't put milk in my scrambled eggs.

Me neither. Scrambled eggs don't need anything added. People only started doing that to stretch their recipe larger.

It makes the eggs watery and tasteless. The milk can even curdle or taste nasty.

Milk is optional. You only use a small amount of it (1 or 2 Tbsp) and you whisk it into the eggs in a bowl before putting the mixture in the pan. With constant stirring during cooking, this makes a fluffier and more voluminous scrambled egg. But eggs are quite OK without any milk and that way they can be broken directly into the pan, saving a bowl to wash.

Do others still want me to have a girlfriend even when they don’t say it outright? My mind keeps telling me they don’t.
