The end-times are very soon and I'm unhappy about that

MIT developed a computer model in the early 1970s that predicted the collapse of the world in 2020 and the end of the world in 2040. They got the first one right.

Really?  The world does not look collapsed to me.

The world isn’t collapsed, but faith that the world will just keep getting better is broken. Its clear we have to focus on more than just making money, but the vast majority don’t have any other choice.

There is a big difference between "collapse" and "change".  The fact that things are radically different from when we were children only means that the world has changed around us, and will continue to change long after we are gone.

Nope.....the world is not going to end.

People have prophesied this since the start of people.

We’re just in a transitional phase right now.

I don't believe in anything to do with religion but I thought I'd post in this thread anyway.

If the world does end soon then nobody can live their lives to the fullest because we're all under control due to the pandemic!

Also, us foolish humans are so desperate to let robots take over, so soon we're going to be overrun by robots. That's what this pandemic is all about, it's not about protecting us from dying of a virus that was accidentally leaked out from a lab in perfect little China, it's about forcing everybody to do everything online so that nobody will have to go out to shops or banks. I f*****g HATE Amazon!! !! !

The negative aspects of our current social situations are being revealed like feces floating to the surface of a polluted pond.  While this does not mean that the End Times are upon us, or that civilization is on the verge of collapse, it does mean that people's attitudes are changing in that our willingness to look the other way has been replaced by cries of indignation over people's inhumanity towards each other.

In simpler terms, people suck, and we are only now starting to openly admit it.

The collapse of the cruise ship industry is not the same thing as the collapse of the world. Though it may seem that way to fans of reruns of the Love Boat.

"Collapse" is too strong a word to use.  Cruise ships and airplanes still exist, and the supporting infrastructure is still there too.  The Entertainment, Hospitality, and Travel/Tourism industries will pick up again once the pandemic is over; and yes, it will eventually be over.

The OP seems to be saying "Boo Hoo...I will never get to go to Disneyland because any minute now Christ is gonna Rapture me up first".

I would think that that would make the OP a laughingstock to both nonbelievers AND to his fellow Evangelical Christians alike!

The thing is - even if the world doesn't actually "end", we will still have the specter of global totalitarianism to deal with, which scenario is now seemingly inexorable.

I'm not an evangelical Christian or even strongly religious.

If you're not a believer then why do you buy into something that only a believer would buy into (that the End Times are near)?

The end times have already happened. We're living in the post-apocalypse. The last Tasmanian tiger died nearly a century ago.

Unless you meant something else. You'll have to be more specific. :)

You may be onto something, here...
