I hope he gets substantial time in prison.

Me, too.

But this is Canada. He’ll get a fraction of what he would get in the USA.

If you go back to the area there might be a memorial. If he didn't make it.

Possibly, but I doubt it.

There have been 2-3 deaths due to fights on the Granville strip over the last handful of years. One was a bouncer that was trying to break up a fight. I’ve never seen/heard of a memorial there for anyone.. although there could have been a very temporary one.

There are plenty of roadside memorials for people who’ve died in car accidents, but I doubt anything like that would last long on the Granville strip -> it’s just way too busy as it’s where majority of the city’s night clubs are.

 Thank you. :)

It was just one of those moments where after a few seconds of “WTF/OMG,” I Knew that Someone had to call 911 and didn’t know if anyone else already had, so, obvi dialled right away.

Then as for following him down the block and around the corner a ways, well, again it was just instinctive, I didn’t hesitate At All, but I did take a split second to glance around and make sure the guy didn’t notice me/make eye contact etc and made sure not to actually Run after him as I had no intention of catching up to him to attempt to physically restrain him or anything like that - he was obviously prone to extreme violence and might attack me or others. Grabbing him was the job of a few of VPD’s finest.

All that stuff plus in the moment, even while in a bit of shock myself, I had the presence of mind to know that police needed to know his location & have his identity confirmed and I just was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time with the presence of mind to do it. 8)

It was a team effort for sure, though, as there had to have been others on 911 calls with different operators because the one I was on with said they Think they have reports of his live location around the corner where I’d described. So credit definitely gets split with whoever else made those calls that night 100%.
