I just turned 45, and I've officially entered "dirty old man" territory when it comes to dating. Many women with the same interests are in their 20s and 30s.
I mentioned going back to 1997 and doing things differently earlier in this thread. What I would have done was:
Gone to a school like UC Berkeley, U of Washington, or NYU and majored in Computer Science in the fall of 1998. (I ultimately stayed in Texas and graduated college with a degree in geography/urban planning, and I was 30 when I graduated).
Married my high school sweetheart Claudia (even though I don't believe in marriage, and she was cheating on me).
Got my driver's license at 16 (in 1995-96). I got it at 21 in 2001.
