Yes they are overworked / understaffed and underpaid and they get short tempered easily. They hate people who are suicidal because they view that as unnecessary work. -this happened in accident and emergency not the Mental ward though.

Yes, I was in accident and emergency a couple of times and the doctors were generally quite impatient as they considered it an imposition to have to deal with people with mental issues. I found the nicest, most helpful person was a male nurse who held my hand and talked with me for a while.
Funding shortages are an absolute bane and at the bottom of much of the issues you speak of with impatient and clueless staff.

Speaking of mental wards and such, a few years ago I got myself admitted for the usual crap; despair, suicidal ideas, etc. I was crying non-stop, and the so called aid was sitting next to me, watching a television program. She completely ignored me. Although I actually prefer to be ignored when upset, I knew that this was not acceptable behavior on her part. Another staff person responded by bringing me tissues, and then proceeding to treat me like a child, by cooing and offering books, cookies and milk! I can laugh about it now, at least.

I wonder in what point of their training it says to respond to emotional displays with more emotion? That is, if they had any training...

(((hug)))
I have been in similar places, but not so bad as what you are in now. Do you have a patient care representative? A person who works for hospital, but is advocate for the patient. Is there anyone in authority you can appeal to? Why hasn't the provider who believes you making sure you get proper care? Do you know how to meditate? Try to keep your mind blank and ignore all you can til your provider returns. Make a shell around yourself and you can let it go when it is safe.

I think this is a difficult job and a few hang in ther because they care, but many are those who can't get employment in other ward because of malice or other traits. Or Psychos actually seek this type of work to bully those who are helpless to defend themselves and would never be listened to anyhow. Non-involvement may help or aggravate more. No way to win here. Can you keep a record for when you can get help?

Take care

The worst one was when i was hospitilised from trying to kill myself and the staff were pointing laughing at the symptoms I had from overdosing on antidepressants. That was the lowest point in my life and they basically kicked me when i was down.

It's amazing they can live with themselves, knowing they imparted that suffering on someone. Kind of makes you wish you could throw them in a maze, like in the Saw horror films, eh?

With thorns in the bushes to catch in their hair and their clothes.
