I hate Christmas.

Thank God for online shopping.

For the first time, my wife and I gave something to my son's girl friend for the holidays, but it was to celebrate her turning 18 (because we missed her birthday) and it was her Christmas preseant.

We don't give each other stuff at any one time of the year (though we buy stuff for each-other all year...not big things....just little "I care about you" gifts, and we gave my kid a preasent). All the rest of it is unnecessary. We make it a point to call the few friends we have and tell them how much we like having them as frends and wish them a peacful holiday season.

But we don't go buying a bunch of stuff for them. And we don't expect anything from them.

just a thought.

Shopping at Christmas time is hell. Which is why I try not to do it unless I have to. People are savage.

I like that. I want to live like that if I ever have a family.

They say Christmas is the time of the highest suicide rate. Either you're depressed because you're spending it alone, or you're stressed because you have to buy things for everyone and you can't afford it.
Christmas is a decent enough time for me personally, but I'm a kid.

Holidays feel imposed upon me, by the overall culture in which I live. I dislike holidays, they mess up my daily/weekly/monthly internalized default settings (mental schedule)-so I look for stuff to read that will distract me from this series of tiresome pseudo-events.

The whole aesthetic of Santa Claus is really off-putting to my tastes (massive amounts of facial hair, bizarre unappealing outfit, and exaggerated abdominal fat).
I despise Xmas songs, ugh-and they become omnipresent in the media/environment, as the date draws nearer. For instance, The Weather Channel usually has nifty instrumental music during their "local on the 8's" segment-I look forward to that. Now, a week before Dec. 25th, they've shifted to Xmas music. It's so disappointing for me-another thing I liked taken over by tyranny of official celebratory artificial bonhomie...ooops, sorry, am ranting.

Xmas lights (so long as they're not blinking) are one of my favorite things-but I don't associate them with the holiday-I use them as nightlights, year-round.

I hate christmas time because dispite all my best efforts, even when I'm doing better than my sibs, I am overlooked...
