I know of Daniel (this is the dude who can calculate large sums right?), and he'd be classed as Asperger's; there's no way he has autism. I saw a TV show on him and others with autism a while ago. They also included the boy who sat down and listened to his walkman all day, was nonverbal, and rocked to the music much of the time.
The latter has "autism", the former has Asperger's, which is the highest functioning form of ASD due to its lack of communication difficulties.
Actually, I think I'm getting the Daniels mixed up; there's another Daniel who lives here in Australia who can calculate vast sums, but he can speak well. My point still stands.
There's a difference between autism/autistic disorder and Asperger's under the current diagnostic and clinical picture.
