That's another thing we need to do, but it need not be mentioned - protect her from trolls.

In any case, I say we press on anyway. Keep trying.

If there's any other ideas we can take to raise some funds, I'm open.

I've put Google context ads up. If you want to contribute to the campaign but don't have any money to do so, you can do your bit by clicking the ads as often as you can (but not going click-click-click - that will result in getting nothing... say after every 5 posts on WP, click an ad...)

If you proceed with the effort of vindicating SpaceCase, I strongly suggest taking the operation to a more private area, like PM/IM/Email, to protect from sabotage.

We have pathetic excuses for human beings lurking around that don't need anywhere near this.

My point exactly. If there are people who would seek to sabotage the operation, it is a risk we must take if we are to get the most support.

In any case, anyone who would offer help doing the work to make this plan a reality would have to have been around for awhile.

Surely she has personal net friends to bring this to fruition, without making a big lame-ass fundraiser that will only degrade her further.

On a separate tack... please note that using WP to canvas for money (no matter for what cause) is probably not a terrific idea.

(Before anyone says anything, donating money towards the running costs of WP is rather different.)
