Just to clarify, are you saying the noises of bad plumbing and a creaky house are still supernatural and just have a physical "grounding"?
Everything that is 'natural' has a supernatural. Everything exists on all planes at once. You can't have anything that 'happens' happen independently from its other planes of existance.
Energy gets caught in snarls and clogged drains and and clogged drains make noise. I am saying that energy gets released when a house settles. Bursts of energy when a drain clog moves or a house creaks are disturbances of sound and air.
I have never heard of a place that is 'haunted' without some perceiving being around to 'perceive the haunts'. So it stands to reason the perceiver will see/hear/feel the energy given off and give any thought ever given in that place that has impressed its energy into said plumbing or structural edifice will animate the perceivers perception and energize those thoughts. Its that extra energy that projects a hologram of a thought form to the perceiver . . a 'haunt.'
so everything means something in the environment that supports it.
