I don't hate people with mental handicaps, even though some of them could be considered unintelligent.
It's when stupidity mixes with cruelty that I find it most disgusting.

I really get what you are talking about in terms of annoyance with people because of a lack of intelligence. My family talks about this all the time, kind of kidding, but kind of NOT kidding, saying "Why are people SO STUPID!"
I'm no rocket scientist, and I'm the neurotypical in a family of aspies who are all ten times smarter than I am, but I think what we are really annoyed with is not so much a lack of intelligence, but rather LAZINESS. People seem incredibly content with being stupid rather than putting forth the effort to actually learn. It's the laziness-factor that drives us insane.
First off I'm a satirical cartoonist and I feel so frustrated when people take satirical cartoons seriously. Could cartoons offend people, sometimes yes. Does it mean to be, no. Is it a threat? No it's nothing more but drawn lines on paper. It's humor and it's fiction even if it is loosely based on something, it's only making a satirical point and amusement and if not amusement, a satirical or political opinion or point.
I hear stories of cartoonist getting arrested, supreme court, and even murdered just over a cartoon. Now LET's LOOK AT THIS LOGICALLY! People resulting in Mania over a drawing.
That's what I mean.
Logic VS Belief.
Philosophy VS. Average opinion
Political Correctness VS Philosophical TRUTH
And one more thing, my spelling is terrible so bare with me!

LOL Good find. It really goes to show that in times of conterversy and fear, sometimes cartoonists need to bring light to certain subjects. Sure not everyone will kind it amusing, but it's true Art. Not the art to offend, but an art to make controversal subjects in a light sense.
Off topic, I know but I am glad to know I'm not alone with spelling issues...(well, to be fair, I have a friend who is rabid about it). Obvious typos I can live with, as well as lack of apostrophe and my/others failure to use capitals,(because I am lying down, typing one handed whilst other is on coffee duty). But without a dyslexia diagnosis, or someone having issues with writing or their education, there is something, well ...disrespectful about it.
I also don't mind brevity. Which I should have stuck to. And possibly not posted this ![]()

With me I'm a great writer but my spelling isn't that great.
I am not sure what you mean by 'light'. All three are addressing very serious subjects.
Personally I don't see any humour at all in the second two.
I see an attempt at a joke in the first one but if that is intended to be the prophet Mohamed then that is pretty offensive and provocative.
I am not sure what you gain by trying to stir people up other than more trouble.

To me it's all simpol. It's only a Cartoon. Only a Drawing! That's it! Sure it might offend people but it's only a drawing. For those who find them offensive, just walk away. To me, it's an art. Cartoon Humor, maybe I don't get or understand the jokes but I know that this cartoonist is laughing and probably a very nice person in real life. That's just my opinion.

Well, some people have spent their whole lives being insulted, discriminated against and even physically attacked . They are sick and tired of it.
Whether you are writing it in a cartoon or screaming it in someone's face don't expect everyone to just accept it and walk away.

2000 years ago Muhammad wrote in a book that people aren't allowed to idolize or characterize him, so now you can do it but risk setting off riots all over the world and having a bounty on your head.

He probably did so because he didnt want a bunch of religious extremists followers that worshipped him and didnt want these to take every word he said as "law", and also just wanted the people to care about eachother and be good humans.

Its pretty insulting to say this, i'm pretty much of an idiot even though i try to learn as much as i can. I'm an aspie with no talents or stuff like that, you shouldn't hate people who aren't supersmart because thats just saying like 'why can't people be perfect like me?' It probably isn't like that but thats how it sounds :/
I totally agree. I think the rule of thumb with Satire is only satirize the bullies or iqnorant people who diserve it, don't become the bully and attack someone innocent who doesn't need it and with no point to make.
I think the whole Mohammid satire is Americans satirizing the idea that people in that religion are Terrorists because they defend their religion with violence. So what the satirists do is they charature this religon as these cruel satianism monsters. Of course by fact it's not true but it's what the American people think as how the French thinks of Americans as these dumb ugly people who are Terrorists and only care about Mass distruction. Of coruse it's not true but it's the spitting image or the impression that they are getting or the education that isn't fell informed.

have you not noticed that this site has it's own spellchecker? anything that shows up as underlined in red is spelled incorrectly, and if you right click on the underlined word, a menu will pop up with the correct spelling so you can fix it. there is just no excuse for spelling that atrocious on a site with spellcheck. it's hard to take you seriously, otherwise. it only takes 5 secs to review what you've typed and correct the errors.
