Could be. I've been lurking in other Haven threads to find out exactly what the "proper" style should be, but I'm not having much luck. It all looks the same.

I think The Haven would benefit from a system like Reddit's where people can flag their threads indicating if they're looking for advice or support (or if they're just having a rant).  If we implemented something similar, and, if someone kept offering unsolicited advice on a thread that was tagged as seeking support, then that would be a clear rule breach.
Hmm... Color-coded text, perhaps? Red for "In Crisis"; Blue for "Need Support"; Green for "Rant/Vent"; Default for "Just Talking" ... ? It might also help for more people to put something like "[ In Crisis ]" in the subject line of the thread.

Oh, and I was the primary mod behind the decision to keep Fnord around, so certain parties are invited to stop shaking their fist at the other mods, okay? Thank you.
No, thank you!

5 or 6 people out of an active population of dozens or more is not a majority.

I relate to some of this - if I post something with the intention of being supportive and the OP either ignores my post or tells me I'm not helping, I go away. Sometimes I feel like explaining my intentions or reasoning but most times it doesn't seem to go well, at least not in emotionally charged threads.

Probably.

Yeah ... I probably should have done that from the start. I least I'm doing that now, but now I'm also Jean Valjean to more than one Inspector Javert.

Good point.

Am I biased? Of course I am.

Every human is "biased." It's part of the human condition.

Personally, I'm blunt and prone to giving practical advice when people tell me about their problems. I've been misinterpreted as being "hostile" when I wasn't intending to be. As a result, I'm reluctant to do much more than smile and nod my head when someone is venting. There are sensitive members here, but there are also members whose autism has rendered their communication to be like a bull in a china shop. The problem becomes which one gets priority when deciding who was in the wrong?

You could say there are quite a few members who don't like Fnord, but, like I've said, I'm not comfortable banning someone based on a popularity contest. There are quite a few people who don't like me (or the other mods) also. I just want to state that issues like this are far from clear-cut. I hate that we lost Ferris and Booya to this, but, considering the limitations of this site, it might have been inevitable.

I realize I've survived longer than most mods, and I attribute that to a lifetime of being told I'm dumb, ugly, and worthless by my peers to the point I'm numb to personal criticism. Rest assured, I really do care about WP, and I'm not "on the take."

I'd love to implement a "tag" system of some sort. Alas, no mod has that power.

I'd also love a decent "ignore" option so when users are triggered by a certain member they can just mute them.

And you're welcome.

Stop playing stupid Fnord, it doesn't suit your style & you should know as much.

Persephone is dead on. You're basking in the misery of WP regulars you ran off.

Well, you were wrong & this is the thread where everyone will tell you directly.

I'm not one of you cool kids I guess.

1 or 2 people out of dozens more is not "everyone".

Fnord, your standards only apply to you. No amount of semantics can shove your M.O. down everyone's throats. You would do well to learn to live & let live, but I'm not optimistic. I hope you can prove me wrong, but you have a long way to go.

All I read there is "I know you are, but what am I?"

Your thread reeks of hypocrisy & blame shifting man. Clean your act up & you'll actually feel better.

Man, it's the Haven, stick to the rules!
What are you trying to gain that way?
