So the motel staff stole it?

Far as I know that's breaking and entering, even if it was done with a key.

The man I know who lives in a residential hotel has a sign on his wall that can be seen as soon as someone opens the door, that says "SMILE YOU'RE ON CAMERA". He doesn't really have a camera. he's just hoping it will act as a deterrent.

...I'd left the door ajar - in midday, with the cleaning ladies for the motel out there, to underline my verbak request that I get my bed changed, new tiweks, etcetera - I didn't :(
However, someone did come in, and go to the rather out of sight corner where the phone + charger was, and take it. :(

I know people who have had things stolen in the hospital. You need to keep valuables like that with you or at least out of view or some place someone wouldn't want to look. You can also get one of those belts that go around your waist under your shirt that tourists keep belongings in when they travel, and keep things there.

People will always want your stuff.

That's absolutely true of college campuses, esp during book buyback time at semesters end. NOTHING is sacred.

I can just imagine how you would treat a college dorm roommate, and your indignation and lack of comprehension that such a person does not want to be your butler and or caregiver. No 20something is going to want to pick you off the floor everyday or be kept awake all night by your hacking, and it does not matter that you are crippled.

I’ve never had anything stolen. I frequently leave my wallet places and it’s always returned with nothing (including cash) taken.

I guess I’m just lucky.

I think it is a possibility that things are misplaced or lost instead of stolen in some of ASS-P’s instances of perceived theft.

No I think they get stolen or thrown away. Such is often a reoccurring problem that one faces when they do not have a home and no safe place to keep their stuff.

Occasionally at work on some rounds I would find places where homeless individuals had stashed things for safe keeping. I always left their stuff there for them where it was relatively safe.
