I’ve already filed, but that won’t come for months.
I’d would have started getting unemployment in two weeks if approved. Now in two weeks of this is t over I’ll be out of $130 a week.
As is I don’t qualify for food stamps, and when I do in two weeks it’ll take month or so to get food stamps. By which time I’ll hopefully be back at work.
The unemployment was suppose to tie me over until work reopens. Which may take longer if many jump ship to other jobs. They have to hire and train new people.

Can’t call and ask anyone as social security is busy wit people applying and won’t take my call

^ I hope it works out for you. The news is full of all the money they are going to give to people out of work. I hope it comes through quickly for you.

Where I'm from, banks are offering payment free months for those who can't handle their apartment loans. People have to pay normal interest from those months, but not the loans, so that helps a lot.

Same here, also the government has ordered that all trading on the housing market is to cease until it’s over.
They’ve also been talking about making it illegal to evict tenants for non-payment of rent for the duration, but not sure if it’s going to happen.
All employed and self-employed people out of work during the crisis will get 80% of their lost earnings reimbursed by the state here. They’ve also put sickness and unemployment benefits up for the first time since 2007.

If you haven't heard, the House approved the bill, Trump will soon sign it, all SSDI/SS and SSI people will receive the full 1,200, though for SSI people they might have to have them file zero federal tax returns, or they might use direct deposit info from the SSA.

I actually filed a federal return in 2018 for my 3 week job so I'm probably covered myself. This year I filed only a state return.

Not for myself, I would have an extremely high chance of survival and would probably only have minor symptoms.

Mostly for my dad. 66, smoked for 30 years, several chemo/radiation treatments the last couple years and a lung surgery. His chance of survival would not be high.

My mom is about the same age, but doesn’t have the other risk factors. Other family members are immunocompromised, and several are much older.

Anyways, thanks to my mom’s extreme OCD about cleaning etc they’re taking extreme precautions and are fine so far.

I live at there house but have been house sitting and my aunt and her bf got back from California (by car and took extreme precautions) and are half way through their 2 week quarantine. When it’s over I’ll go back to my parents and chill out there.

Other sh***y things: My 7 month pregnant cousin was killed instantly in a T-bone car accident a couple weeks ago and we can’t even have a funeral. Her 12yo, my Godson, is going to need a lot of support. My sister exploded her foot in a break so bad doctors have never seen anything like it and aren’t sure how they’re going to rebuild it surgically yet. Can’t go help their household out rn either or visit when she’s recovering from surgery. But they’ll survive and be okay.

Besides being worried about the elderly, immunocompromised, and high risk C-19 ppl, this is an exorbitantly expensive place to live and it’s hard not worrying about friends fearful of losing their homes or not being able to afford food - and there are a LOT of people like that in this city. As much wealth is here, it’s almost comparable to dirt poor areas where if you don’t work that day you don’t eat. There are gov’t reliefs coming and I think people will mostly be Okay. Some may have to move, though, or make other major adjustments. They at least won’t starve to death - people won’t let them; there’s a lot of community sharing and support going on that’s rather nice to see.

So, yeah. I’m not worried for ME. I’ll be fine in terms of shelter food etc and surviving it IF I do get C-19, it’s others I’m concerned about. My dad’s supposed to have 5-10 good years of enjoying riding his Can-Am Spyder around town and on road trips with us (5 of us bought bikes and counting!) before the cancer takes him FFS. F right off, corona!
