he is like me, the only thing that separates us qualitatively is i'm a trifle luckier than he was, I had head shrinkage just sufficient to keep me from going off the deep end. otherwise I [like ASS-P] also have fairly marked frontal lobe issues that make me scatterbrained and with the attention span of a gnat. unless one has LIVED in such a body/brain meatsuit, one can't know what a struggle it is just to make sense of life, or just survive. I can't count the number of times I've lost important things, mislaid them, been cheated out of them. this is a support group and part of support is just LISTENING to each other, no matter what. I mean, how hard can that be?

If you're in a position to help then you have a moral obligation to help. If you're not, then you don't have the obligation.

And what if some autistic person here feels morally obligated to try giving him hands on support? He's not the only one here capable of making bad decisions. So what happens then? When a mentally disabled individual on this forum decides it's their job to intervene?

I said those who can help. We're in no position to help.

Cant agree with you there. Firstly, im a Capital A Atheist, so I dont give a crap what the Bible says. Its not the law, the Constitution is (at least in the US at the moment...Trump may have plans to change this). And I earn a good salary now because I have a talent for biochemistry and genetics not possessed by 90% of the population. I earn it, its MINE and MY WIFES.

Thats not whats been asked for. Not listening or moral support or advice. In fact, with regard to advice, he usually just accuses people of trying to control his life.

A thread he started in October was very telling, questioning wether he should have come here at all, since he never met anyone here in real life. Disregarding how dangerous this can be.

A good chunk of the people feel as the same as you do and I am a minority who dissents. But, the vast majority claim to be Christian. This view that the people have diametrically opposes what Jesus Christ says.

You're an atheist as you said, right? Well, let's look at it in a more logical and pragmatic way. If the person who needed aid and what not was given it and became a productive member of society wouldn't it be better for society as a whole?

Another thing! What if Heaven forbid you became this person? What if through circumstances of not your design you became as destitute as ASS-P and needed aid or worse? What if it got to where you couldn't provide for yourself and your family couldn't aid you no more then what? Try to imagine that! Now, try obtaining aid and help and others won't provide it. Imagine this in your head. Now, you're outside huddled against a building or trashcan with a blanket and it is freezing and you are developing hypothermia because you had difficulty getting to someplace warm.

Now, do you see why those are in a position to help should be "MORALLY and "NOT LEGALLY" required to help. Morally meaning whether it is by a God or by one's good conscience.

As for the Constitution, this is an imperfect document written by imperfect man. It is not God or a holy document like people in our society treat it as. If a set of principle's move us forward as a society then use and keep them but if they hold us back from advancing including in ethics then why keep them and treat them as they were dropped down on commandments by a god?

And, that reminds of when I was in church. The pastor told all of us to have a "God" party. And this is what the dude said. We don't invite our families and our friends during the holidays. And, we go to under the overpasses and street corners and invite a bunch of homeless people to our home and celebrate the holidays with them. At first, it sounded so good with all the music playing, the praising of the pastor and the cheering and everyone sounding happy and excited.

When all that was gone and overtime I got to thinking. What do I do with these people the next day afterwards? Take them back to the overpasses? Back to the street corners and do it again next year? So, they stay on the street corner and overpasses the other 364 days out of the year. And, a number of them need more then just food and a place to stay. They need f*****g HELP (even more then I do) and I mean psychiatric and psychological help. Some of them need to be on medication. They need to be in an institution of some kind.

I've never ever been back to church since then.

the moral imperitive of being proactively helpful to somebody down on their luck, really sinks in when oneself has been down on one's luck. a 16th century preacher [name I forgot] said "there are none so tender, as those who themselves have been skinned." until this happens, until one is themselves brought down low, most folks can't understand the meme of "brother's keeper" or "it takes a village." individualistic aspies especially have a hard time of it. and the ones of us who DO understand it, have an even harder time actually being of service. hence, most folks find it easier just to sail the river denial and hope it doesn't happen to them.

and it seems to me at least, that it is precisely the right-wing mindset that's most prone to this, the one that says "every man for himself, and the devil take the hindmost." in this center/right nation, this is a chronic infection of the body politic, that resists all treatments.

for a fraction of the cost of the latest GOP tax giveaway to the 1%, homelessness could be history. each dollar spent on the front end of it [catching kids when they need help before it gets out of control] outperforms hundreds of dollars spent on the back end of it [corrections system, welfare]. what is needed, is the political will and some enlightened self-interest.

...Are you trying to whine away so you'll get this locked? Displaying more of this obsessive hatred towards me you tend towards?
I don't know where you are (and don't want to know), I did, when I had some extra money, make an attempt to relocate to various parts of WA state, including the general area of Aunt Blabby, a town or two away, it didn't quite work out :( and I wasn't as crippled then as I now  am.
I wasn't able to get jobs BECAUSE OF what the P-IC did to me! :x I was not allowed to have good stability  - I tend to imagine that you were. You express your hatred for me endlessly (then complain about the length of the thread) :(

rwho222"]Jeez why hasnt this thread been locked yet?

And I can just see next July or August--another ASS P thread asking strangers to dig up his school records, help him fill out forms from afar, and etc, because I KNOW he will never let the college thing go, even though he has no means to pay for it or move his butt around campus.

My hypothesis of hes never had a job in his life was confirmed here, so how would he adapt to getting up when he has to for class? I'm sure he loves being able to do whatever whenever.[/quote]

Just a reminder to members about the Haven rules: ignoring them can result in a formal warning to posters. If rule breaking continues in this thread, expect to receive a formal warning or a banning if the offence is particularly extreme.

I read this entire thread.

EzraS:

ASS-P has been publicly warned in the locked thread not to request help beyond what is reasonable on these forums.

I get your position, truly, I really do. However, here's the thing: ASS-P's prognosis, in my non-medical opinion, is that he is going to f*****g die. Sure, everyone is, eventually.. but I mean sooner rather than later. It's unlikely that with his diet/exercise & limited abilities to follow medical instructions that his health is going to improve. With diabetes complications, amputations healing (likely poorly), congestive heart failure & fluid retention etc I will be surprised if he sees his 60th birthday in ~24 or so months. I'll be impressed if he sees another Christmas & New Years at the rate he's going. Yes, people with CHF can live for years with the right medication, diet, exercise, possibly surgeries etc. ASS-P is unlikely to do much of any of the things he should do for his health, and thus my non-medical opinion of his not-so-long term prognosis is that he is going to f*****g die.

Then there's the fact that he's been f****d 8 ways from Sunday in this life, too. Institutionalized, popped a bunch of meds to keep him under control that probably scrambled his brains & guts like eggs. EzraS, you & I and most others are fortunate enough not to have been dealt a hand that resulted in any of this hot mess of an existence ASS-P has to endure. I say endure because there's not a whole f**k of a lot to enjoy about it. I guarantee ASS-P doesn't particularly like being the way he is & not a single one of us would want to trade places with him.

He will never go to college. He will never work. The dude's gonna die & he wants to see his brothers photos. I get that, too.

ASS-P wrote:
...Maybe I didn't spell this out sufficiently, but I believe that my brother's things are all cleared out of his room - It's been more than four months, after all.- and all packed together in one container, I imagine that that's what happened. Now, remember, I haven't even received info from the lawyer about the general weight and mass of the stuff. I REALLY DON'T THINK that they would willingly " open up the box of stuff and take the clothes out and dispose of them " (And, no, I don't particularly want his clothes.)! :x Jjusf as I do not think that they would open up the box, take the pictures out, and scan and put them online for me in an office in NYS either :x !

I'm sure you're right, ASS-P, if you contacted the lawyer by phone and communicated with them the way you do here they won't do you any favours. However, if I get them on the phone chances are MUCH more likely that I can get them to do what you want. If it's hammered out clear as day what I'm attempting to achieve, I'll make the calls and ask the questions.

I'm thinking I will:

Ask how big of box there is. Ask if they'd be willing to open it, remove any photos/small flat things etc and stick them in a large envelope and have them mailed directly to you. I can tell them they can donate the rest. Then at least you'll have those photos and any other small items that can be shipped with them. They'd be small enough to keep in a drawer or in your backpack. IF they say they will only ship the whole box as is, just get it shipped to where you are, open it up, keep the small things you want & donate the rest to people around you or discard the clothes etc if they're not useful to anyone. Maybe they will pay for the postage just to be done with it and not have to communicate with you anymore. IF any one of us can persuade them to do so it's me. Give me all the detailed info: your name, brothers name, lawyers name and contact info, address where things can be shipped to You - whether one envelope or a box you have to deal with once it arrives, and I will do what I do: Try. If I can make something happen in one phone call, fantastic. If they ask questions and require further info, I can get back to you here on the forums and get and relay it.

ASS-P, you may think I'm a complete a**hole. But, I'm not. I'm not exceptionally wealthy - but I am compared to how I used to be, and I certainly am compared to you, and with that monetary wealth I make small charitable donations here and there to causes I care about due to friends & family who are affected by certain things. Muscular dystrophy, diabetes, cancer, heart/stroke, deaf youth sports, women's centre for sexual violence, firefighters fund/burn unit, my friends' party space that someone torched, gofundme campaigns for locals dealing with horrific health situations, youth homeless shelter (MY favourite - 7% of the general population are LGBT, but 40% of homeless youth aged 16-25) etc. Hell, I gave my dying father (cancer, not sure how long he has left - could be 5-10years, could be 1 never know) $5000.00 for his birthday in November to kickstart his motorcycle fund since it's the ONE thing in life he wants to do before he dies; ride a motorcycle. I earn an income (below average at present) & I will save and invest my money and eventually will become very wealthy over the long run, but ONLY so that I can give more than I do. My signature says "Aspiring Accountant," not because I have any intent of becoming a professional bean counter.. but because if I could make millions of dollars (never know! gimme 30 or 40 years and see), like Ben Affleck's character in The Accountant, I'd spend it on Autism research. I'm decades from having a fighting chance of attempting to achieve that goal & I have many other massive goals to work on in life that will cost HUGE sums of time & money, but in the present here & now moment if you let me I will give you some of my time to make these phone calls and see what, if anything, can be done about getting your brothers photos and small things to you. Obviously I'll need your cooperation w/ some details and information and so on, but I will do it. Not because I particularly like you (or dislike you) but because I truly feel bad for you & as much as I'm not a medical doctor and thus don't have a professional medical opinion, I don't believe you're going to live a lot longer and it's certainly within my capability to help you out with attaining at least one of your last wishes; to have those family photos.

@Goldfish21 - Since you're offering:

I'd like a castle overlooking the same bluff as Chris DeBurgh's castle in Ireland.

I'd like a Mercedes Benz, Maybach, Rolls Royce and Lamborghini in my garage.

I'd like maze-inspired gardens in the front and back that rivals Queen Elizabeth's.

Lastly, I'd like a good, honest man to keep my chest warm day and night.
