Who here likes me and still wants to be friends?
Sly is being attacked on many fronts.
I believe he thinks the world is like a Dirty Harry movie. Unfortunately, a few folks here have reinforced this impression in him.
I don’t believe he is a racist. I believe he needs to meet, in person, more diversified types of people. I was a racist until I actually started hanging out with “minorities.”
I believe he made some bad analogies because he felt boxed into a corner. I’ve done the same thing in the past. I said misguided things which did not reflect what I truly felt about things.
I feel like all this is biting him in the butt, like it bit me in the butt when I said and did stupid things out of anger, confusion, and feeling boxed in.
Please folks, get to know the real Sly. I called someone the N-word at age 10, and got punched in the face. That, and a little thought, made me realize that I made a grievous mistake in calling that guy the N-word.
This is an autism site. People with autism make this mistake all the time. They do and say misguided things. Whoever hasn’t, cast the first stone.
Please allow Sly to say his piece.

for lynching Sly without a trial, shaming him, ganging up on him and going for the jugular, deliberately baiting him, pushing him into a corner and exploiting the opportunity for revenge while taking his analogies and twisting them to paint him as a racist. Sly is not a racist and what happened on that thread was pure cruelty.
No, that outcome wasn't ideal or intended. Now you know why I started offering him 'outs' earlier, and then explictily referred to them as such in case the hint was missed.
I don't believe he would view himself as such, but we know he's open about sympathizing with groups that are. That doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to participate here but that also doesn't mean that I'm a bully for calling his support for those groups what it is. He isn't a horrible person, he sometimes supports stuff that's morally questionable. The two aren't the same. The problem is that horrible causes succeed sometimes when they win over normal people, those relatively normal people don't turn into cartoon villains, they're still relatively normal people. Treating them as though they're irredeemable makes it harder to get them to abandon those causes, but that doesn't mean we can just pretend they're not supporting those causes either.
Pepe and Sly made poor choices of metaphors that given the context were bound to look way worse than they realized. Haven't they both apologized, we're all prone to saying the wrong thing so I'd advocate allowing great tolerance for that.
Alex's comments regarding lynch were perfectly reasonable given the context of the discussion. Alex seemed overall quite reasonable in terms of 'calling it like it is'. We can't pretend this stuff isn't a concern or isn't worth considering.
f**k off. You hate me cause I don’t support blm and I don’t automatically side with black people in any situation. I don’t supoort any white supremist or racial groups. If you’d said that to me in person I’d sue you.
Unfortunately, there are ignorant people who associate anyone who doesn't support THEIR side as being bigots and racists...They simply demonstrate their own bigotry, racism, and hatred in doing so, and it's best not to lower yourself to their level in responding to them (as tempting as it can be).
Don't hate him and his ilk, pity them for their lack of understanding\ignorance of these simple concepts.
If you want, Send me (or any of your other friends who have moved\are moving there) a message at AF...Looks like we'll be spending more time there from now on.
Normalizing it won't make it better, but I don't believe anything any of you has said rises to the level of warranting a warning, no one's encouraging you to no longer participate, you're just not allowed to use the mods as a weapon when someone says 'hey, that's racist'.
Ragequitting because your standards of political correctness won't be enforced doesn't seem like a reasonable response when the community is largely intended for support. You're really that angry you can't have someone who clearly needs some help banned from a board intended to support us because I called sympathizing with white supremacists sympathizing with white supremacists? Sorry, I'm entitled to be here too.

For that, you were physically threatened, mocked with derogatory metaphors, and shamed for seeking help. You don't deserve what happened. I will stand by you, just as I would stand by any of my friends on Wrong Planet.
And to WP: Thanks for the memories. I did my best.
I am lost for words Isabella.

He didn't call anyone the N word. This is entirely different. Sly used the word in an analogy, showing that it was a hurtful and racist term. He did not apply it to any person. It has nothing to do with him thinking the world is a movie, because he doesn't use that word in his regular speech. EVER. I dare anyone to find an incident where he used that word against a person on this site. He used an analogy. People used hateful metaphors toward him, and they were allowed to be posted for 11 weeks in full view. That same person was banned from AF for using the N word themselves, within a week of joining.
Sly does not deserve this. If he was such a racist White Supremacist, I'd like to see the reports that were filed on his BLM posts and the bans that were issued for his "racism" or "white supremacy". There are none.

Saying goodbye as well Bric?
I'll still be here...But knowing the owner's opinions of those who hold differing views, I now realise it's not intended to be a place to discuss differing opinions, or to try and help people understand the opposite side (or central) position in discussions, as it appears this is not wanted by him.
The site owner specifically implied that to vote a given way made you a "white supremecist"...hard not to feel the site is (in fact or by intention) polarized.
I think he (Alex) was expressing an opinion that voting for Trump in 2020 means you tolerate things that Trump has said, I don't interpret that as calling Trump voters racist.
I know it was an analogy. I was just saying that he made the analogy because he felt boxed in.
When I was 10, I thought calling someone the N-word was the same as a black person calling me a “white boy.” I didn’t understand the history.
Sly is not a racist. He made a bad analogy because he felt boxed in. Haven’t we all done this?
Throw the pitchforks away, please.....and give Sly the chance you wanted and got when you made a mistake.

I think most of us accept conservative views should be allowed to be posted here, it provides balance, many if us on the left do go overboard sometimes.
I know how Sly feels. Almost the same thing had happened to me a few times.
I'm trying to appeal to Alex about all of this and get Pepe out of hot water. Alex probably won't read my last correspondence to him until tomorrow.

So a statement that he didn't think they were "the first time around", but then stating "but certainly if they vote for him in the 2020 election now that he's made it clear that he believes in those ideals" certainly comes across as stating he believes they are...No mention of how they only "tolerate" those things.
