-9 (now that the pot has worn off) and nobody cares. i wish to die instantly.

Quote:
It used to be that it would "get better" in high school. Then they said it would "get better" in college. Now it's going to "get better" when I graduate. Hey, maybe third time's the charm. Maybe this time they'll finally be right, who knows. I'm going to go ahead and say I doubt it, though.

People don't actually think for themselves anymore. They just repeat catchphrases and ideas that they've heard from a hundred other people. Why do they just assume that things will magically work themselves out? How do people get so stupid that they genuinely believe that blind unsubstantiated optimism is even remotely constructive? It's like the rest of the world is completely braindead.

It's the same as what they say about social media: "You're comparing your everyday to their 'highlight reel.'" No, I'm comparing my highlight reel to their highlight reel. No one "pretends" to receive awards or get into prestigious universities/jobs or have friends for social media. Those things are actually happening for them. I wish these people would think for once before they speak rather than just mindlessly repeat what they read somewhere on the internet or something. Actually process what's going into your brain, don't just thoughtlessly accept it like you're being brainwashed.

There's also "don't compare yourself to other people." Everyone compares themselves to other people. It's completely natural. You can't avoid it, nor should you. If you end up homeless and living in your truck, you're going to say "My life didn't go very well." And why would you say that? Because you're comparing yourself to other people. That's just how humans function. And you should compare yourself to everyone else, because that's the only way to measure success. As much as people like to say "everything isn't a competition," it actually is. Everything about our society is competitive. Hell, competition is the reason we're all here in the first place. Without competition, evolution would never have taken place, and we would just be microbes in the sea. If our ancestors didn't outcompete other males for mates, we would never have been born.

My mom has been giving me and my sister a hard time. She has gotten rough, rude, extremely judgmental, and very sarcastic. My sister and I don't know what to do and whenever our mom makes a mistake, she blames us for it.

My sister and I have been seeing therapists since last summer and we have been thinking of ways to convince our mother to see a therapist herself, so any advice that my sister and I can use would be much appreciated.

Invite your mother to a group therapy session with yourself and your sister. Say that it is "family counselling". The therapist can point out her idiosyncratic behaviour, and then perhaps she will continue on her own.
