I think you might be facing a difficult immediate situation where people you are living with have perhaps gotten into a habit of being impatient with you and thinking this is okay.

As a method of trying to take this to the side, what if you try and remember some good parts of each person (realistically optimistic, not overly so) and an activity or interest one of the people likes. Then maybe one question about the interest and then maybe or not a single follow-up question (which you might half plan in advance, what I sometimes do) and let the interaction be relatively short and count it as a success. And generally limit this to a maximum of once a day. This is a medium investment attempt which may or may not work.

And to some extent, this is a method of trying to remember what you used to like about the person. At the same time also being open to new people.
