Anyone else feel like the black sheep?

On my mother's side, most definitely. They're all extroverted NT people who are into appearances, grand demonstrative emotions, family parties with dancing, laughing, shopping, and all the things that make me cringe. There's a heavy emphasis on beauty and poise and high heels. My grandmother was a fashion model in California in the 1950s.

Say no more.

My father's side was tiny and none of them are still alive. They were always much more like me. It stands to reason that I'm confident my father and his father, if not more of them, would have been identified on the spectrum.

One of my much older half-brothers has always described himself as the black sheep of the family, but he's the most NT of all of them! In more recent years he's said that he thought there was something weird about the family, and maybe my recent diagnosis confirms what it is. I'm only aware of one relative who was pretty obviously an Aspie, but I can see small signs of it in others. They're all long dead now though, apart from this brother and a slightly older half-brother, who are now in their 80s, so this discovery has come a bit late!

They do not try to make me feel that way, but I am one nonetheless.
