Um, hi all, here are some reasons why I haven't killed myself yet...
1. In the past, my peers bullied me nearly every year. Some of these bullies even openly proclaimed that they would like to see me dead. If they ever hear about my death, I can imagine them popping champagne and celebrating.
2. Throughout history. countless people have suffered so much pain that no word can ever describe the intensity of such pain. Even though suicide might seem to be the easy way out for such people, they willingly grit their teeth and bear with the pain instead. If these people can stay alive, why can't I?
3. Short version: I still have so many things to do. Long version: I still haven't tried out so many new dishes, I still haven't read so many books, I still haven't watched so many TV shows, I still haven't surfed so many websites... I would rather have fun than die.

If I didn't have my video games and anime, I'd have ended my own life years ago. Years and years ago.

Well, most people have a purpose on the planet other than to just die. Yes, that includes everybody on WP.

I understand suicidal ideation very well. I lived with it for more than half of my life to date. Now I am grateful that I did not give in and kill myself.

I have found myself a place in a local autism advocacy group. All of the pain I went through, the humiliations, the seemingly endless string of awkward moments, etc..... They serve a purpose now. I am relating to others around me who are going through it at the present moment. The moments that I wished I never had to live through are now amongst my strengths. I survived them, didn't I?

Two reasons to NOT commit suicide:

Living and achieving pisses off the people who say we will be nothing. Even if we only do something that is less than what we hope for ourselves.

It would leave a nasty disgusting mess and only hurt the people who care about us. Even if we are only close to a select few people, offing ourselves will hurt them and validate our enemies.

How about this- People have the option to decide what they want.

People always have that option, but I think that when people are contemplating suicide it's most likely that they really don't really want to die. They want to find new alternatives, a change in their current situation that might feel unbearable, or a release from the weight of dealing with depression and other negative emotions. Given the finality of death, I will always encourage people to try any and all alternatives first. Of course on the flip side, I do support euthenasia but in those instances there isn't going to be a better alternative.

All the rejection is only going to get worse and worse the older we get. We all know from the statistics that most of us are going to end up doing it sooner or later. And the rest of the world has made it clear to us that they don't want us around. So why don't we all just end this now, and eliminate this horrible disease which robbed us all of ever have decent lives from the gene pool once and for all?

Not all of us think like that - I don't for one. Things can change, depression can be treated and get better. And ASD is certainly not a disease! We're not worth anything less, just different and we even have our own unique strengths, enough so I would feel it's sad if it was suddenly erased from the gene pool!

That is kind of a good point. The problem is, I wouldn't want my life to be wasted. But, at some point, if someone organized a mass aspie suicide, I would consider participating, just to make the world notice. If 1000 aspies blew themselves up in front of the White House creating a 200-yard crater, I'm sure someone would notice.

What, no! Don't do that! If you do that, the US will invade Belgium or something!

We are all going to die, I just don't see any reason to hurry it up.

Also you are dead for much longer than being alive, so why rush it.

Besides that although it get quite rough at times, we don't know what wonderful things will happen tomorrow.

And lastly, I want to see our grandkids grow up.

If I did kill myself I dont think anyone would care! I would just be famous on the obituary for a day and everyone would go about their business like nothing happened!

Suicide doesn't solve anything, for one thing. And personally, the best way to get back at someone who's been not nice to you is to go on living and having a good time while doing it. I learned this the hard way.

Im not important enough for people to care whether or not Im alive or dead and suicide would just mean leaving a nasty mess behind for others to clean up not to mention funeral costs etc so no point in doing it at least not now anyway.

Not before so-and-so dies.

Live to spite people who are pulling for your destruction, if for no other reason.
