Disappearing
Reminds me of Loving-kindness Meditation
Similar, but in some ways more basic. Doesn't require the use of a living being as an object, & is secular rather than in the Buddhist tradition. Also, emphasizes staying in touch w/the sensations of the body, rather than emotions, so I think a bit more grounded.
Having worked w/a number of people trying to teach the Metta meditation, I have found that many people have difficulty generating 'compassion' or 'lovingkindness' towards any living being, themselves in particular. So asking them to find resources that give them a sense of calmness, relaxation, or happiness is more effective for lifting the mind. It allows people who have been bullied, managed, abused, & treated as things to find their own way, their own ease & reinforce it. An expression of their right to self-determination.
Yea, I'm only 2 hours from London so it's fine. I have quite a busy routine at school so I don't know, probably won't work with the time difference and crappy school wifi.
OK, and if you ever want to try, let me know.
Unfortunately, there's a lot of grey in life. So, what skills do you have for easing your internal pressure as you allow this to sort itself out a bit more? I'm interested in hearing what you've found useful.
I think she had shut hers off for a long time & when our conversation started they were coming back like a 2x4 outta nowhere, taking her by surprise. So that was scary. I think for myself, it was a little of getting tired of being surprised by them so suddenly--mine also seemed to come out of nowhere often--and realizing I wasn't accessing some important info available in the more subtle states, if I could become aware of them. That was about 20 years ago, now I'm in the process of throwing out what I thought I knew & allowing myself to re-label my experience from a less culturally projected POV. I was Dx about 4 years ago, and went thru a bit of depression when I realized that my emotions were 'defective' in comparison to NTs. Thankfully, I'm over that thinking error. My emotions are just fine, only different. Curiosity being the predominant emotion & a pleasant one.
When I'm in absolute panic mode I have to have my softest towel in one hand, my toy bunny in another, headphones playing heartbeat sounds, and my best friend over the phone with me.
I think compared to a lot of other aspies I actually understand myself relatively well.

Yes, I think you do have more of a clue about your internal states than many. And that's a lovely coping strategy...I particularly like the headphones...I listen to the ticking of my clock, so steady & rhythmic.
Do you have any questions or run into any problems w/the grounding & resourcing?
If you like, we can work to enhance it, strengthen it. And then, when you feel like you've stabilized in it, there's a way of working w/the s**t in your day that will actually help...at least, I think. I learned this as a one-on-one technique w/the person in front of me, so doing it online is a bit of a stretch.
Also, check out iChill...it's part of the resiliency system. I haven't tried it, but my partner likes it & speaks highly of it. It's free.

I know I sound immature, sleeping with a towel/blankie and a toy bunny.
I listened to my best friend's heartbeat today, it was nice.
It may be difficult. Plus I may not have the time, I'm actually multitasking 4 or 5 things atm, including studying.
Okay, I will when I have the time.

No, actually you sound like someone who knows what works for her. And that's a good thing.
Right, end of school, etc.
Yeah, I think you'll find it easier to work the iChill app in than connecting w/me immediately. But I'm here if you need a hooman to talk to.
