A good first step.Good luck.I think they have helped me,though it took alittle experimenting to find the right one.All I wanted was to stop "reuminating about bad experiences, flying off the handle over little things(didnt work for this),not cry all the time(very effective)but NOT feel like a zombie.

I hope you find the right balance. It's so nice not to feel like crap every second of every day....

Trazadone is a mild anti-depressant but is used more for helping people sleep,so may make you feel tired.Certainly wouldnt be my first choice,I have enough problems with fatigue.Dont your parents hav medical insurence for you?If not,you might qualify for your states local medical program. There are even some companies who will send you medication if you cant afford it(I think is the one that Montel Williams is always advertising on TV?PPA..."Project for Perscription Assitance",maybe you can goggle it?

Good luck.My sister use to take it to help her sleep but it did nothing for her depression, which is very extream. It might work for you,as we are all different.

Trazodone is an off patent anti-depressant that should be dirt cheap. Check to see if its
on Walmart low cost list.

Its also highely sedating. You must have mentioned sleeping problems and anxiety. I
have about 100 x 50 mg tablets I ordered from India expire date 01-2009 that I never
use. I could dump all the blister packs in one of those 2-day mailing envolopes and mail it to you.

Walmart does sale 30 day supply for $4 (50, 100, 150 mg) but it list WY as one of the states that may have higher generic drug cost :(

Well to be honest I was not crazy about you taking this kind of med. They have anticholergenic effects that make you well "dumb" .

Not sure if they ship to WY but at http://www.dcpills.com/ you can order meds online with a simple form you feel out. Saying you have no heatlh problems, used this med before, had a physical exam in the last 12 months, your IRL doctor knows about this, etc. Prices are not super cheap but you have to figure your paying for a doctors visits
to. I just re-ordered my prozac yesturday

90 x 20mgprozac the total was 67.95 + 19.95 = $87.90

Trazodone sucks as an anti-depressant IMO. As does Buspar. They do basically zilch except make me sleepy.

Trazadone is only good for temporarily for insomnia. Just don't try to stay up too long after taking it or you may running into walls trying to get to your bed. It makes you feel really "drunk" and funny headed. I only take 0.25 mg before bed so I'm better by morning.

I'm taking it now to help with insomnia after going off Klonopin. I would advise people to avoid the benzodiazepines like Xanax and Klonopin. They put your mind in a fog and when you decide to stop the withdrawals are horrible.

If I can't sleep I take 50mg of diphenhydramine and if that doesn't do the trick I take nyquil. I've only needed the diphenhydramine once or twice in the past month.

If you really need them, they might help. The ideal situation is that you eventually stop taking them, and discover ways of coping with depression that don't involve drugs, though.

You went to a therapist and a psychiatrist and got trazodone??

OMG.

That's an old class of antidepressants called tricyclics, and it is very unusual for it to be the first antidepressant prescribed to anybody. However, that being said, this class of drugs can be effective for anxiety, especially for people with hypersensitivity issues.

I am pro-drug because as a healthcare professional I have seen many people's lives saved because of them, and I have seen people die from not taking them.

That being said, having a good psychiatrist who knows what they are doing is important.

I also believe that those of us on the spectrum might metabolize psychoactive medications differently, and might need lesser doses of medications than others. I for instance can feel the first dose of an SSRI within hours, whereas the professionals say they take weeks to work. If I take the standard dose of an SSRI, it is bad for me. I have found for me at least, less is better.

One of the two psychiatrists I respect uses this motto with meds: Start low and go slow.

Yes, I think we all have different reactions to different drugs obviously. Tricyclics saved my life and i was the most anti drug person ever...I think moreover it is important to not only find a drug that works, but yes, a professional who you are able to be honest about your mental health with during the process.

I wish you luck with it.

The Trazodone seems to be working. (started to work after two days though which makes me nervouse because it is supposed to start working after a week)

I had a followup with the doctor and he prescribed a month's worth, which was only $10, he says I should keep taking it for two more months at least.
