You probably live in a small-enough town that you could establish a Eutopia!

Imagine everybody having philosophical virtue like they have in Plato's Republic?

I can't ever agree with anyone on politics because my beliefs fall about equally on either side. I could never be either a liberal or conservative. There is no political party that I know of that falls in line with my beliefs.

I usually go with whatever makes the most sense logically, and go with the evidence. I am really pretty unemotional when it comes to politics, so maybe that's why I don't really feel drawn to any one party.

The point is, if I talked about politics, everyone would end up hating me, because I will strongly disagree with stances from either side. I'd get attacked by everyone.

Not by me, it means you are thinking it through and have your own ideas.

There is a centrist party, albeit a small one. There is quite a lot sense in the "no one ideal" or "policy by policy" approach to politics.

Polarisation happens becuase political faction are like sports teams. It is more about devotion/tradition than sense.

My position is not is not left or right, it is more specific. Stuff like Trade Liberal, Social Libertarian, Competitionism, etc

I wouldn't expect people to agree with everything I say, I don't value that as much as those that have their own ideas.

Yes, you are usually reasonable when dealing with those who disagree with you. Some people here are not.

Political parties to me are useless. Most people just go around believing all the crap that comes out of the politicians' mouths. In a way, they seem more like cults than political parties. Too extreme for my taste. I believe in policies that make sense. I don't worship politicians.

But I do find that I often get attacked for having a different viewpoint, even if I'm being reasonable and respectful. I guess that's just the way people are.

I think it's valuable when people are encouraged to discuss things with each other, and to even argue about things.

It's the way of the world. People are always going to try to outdo you with various devices, subtle and not-so-subtle.

In real life, you can't "tell on" people if a person offends you.

There are no moderators in real life.

If somebody really feels offended, then I guess I'd tell the Mods.

But if you could resolve the situation in another manner, you could gain experience in standing up for yourself in real life.

Sorry that you felt bad OP. I hope noone in wrong planet sets out to hurt someone else. We at least should be as kind as possible to each other since so many of us find the world a bit hostile. It's good advice to ignore little digs but I find it hard to do.
Maybe it would help to calmly and kindly respond to the person that hurt you by explaining why you are upset. Perhaps they dont realize how you might interpret their words. Give them a chance to clarify. I wouldn't intentiinally hurt someone's feelings but many times in everyday life I seem to say the wrong thing or I dont seem to speak clearly and get misinterpreted. Also, it might be good to first pause and consider at the moment if you are already sad/ mad or in a bad mood. Sometimes, if I wait a day, I have a very different perspective.
