Well, why not explain to them what you have been telling us on here.

Are you in this care center permentantly or temporary?

The mod squad here has actually told me that they give you a longer leash than some people because they recognise you as a mental health trainwreck. I dont think they should, because in spite of this you are clearly also very intelligent and high functioning. I see a manipulative person who likes to cast those who disagree with his BS as "villian" and himself as "victim".

How does labeling others villain and himself victim make one a manipulative person?

How do you figure this guy is high functioning?

What does his intelligence have to do with his ability to function or not?

I don't think anyone is trying to get you banned. We appreciate your presence here, and want to help as best we can, but there are rules on this forum, and I think we all need to adhere to them.

That sounds like a nightmare, dealing with all the ID and bank problems. It's not my area of expertise (I know less than you do about that stuff) - but hopefully others can advise you on how to proceed?

My own suggestion remains that in light of these problems being chronic and beyond your ability to deal with, this is a case where enlisting a Public Guardian might be warranted. Their job is to manage living arrangements and finances for people who are vulnerable and at risk due to disability issues, and I certainly hope you would qualify.

I know that's not the solution you want to hear, as it involves giving up your freedom to choose what you spend your money on. But that option does exist, if it gets to the point where you're not able to leave the facility at all, and need someone to handle things for you.

I apologize if that suggestion is unwanted or unhelpful (and if I'm wrong about that, someone please correct me). Hopefully things are not that dire, and you'll pull through this situation as you've pulled through so many others in the past. You're a survivor, and I admire your strength and determination.

This is a support forum---especially in the Haven.

One should not feel restrained from offering advice.

Everybody needs somebody to "guide" them in some way throughout life----I'm sure Einstein needed that sometimes.

But, his issues severe enough to where he can't enlist a guardian or do hardly anything on his own at this time. How does he get a guardian? What he needs is someone to intervene on his behalf totally.

A Public Guardian is something the social worker could arrange for him, there at the facility. It is exactly what you're saying - someone to intervene on his behalf totally, covered by government Social Services. But it's not something he's wanted to pursue in the past, and I respect his right to make his own choices.

He is going to need a public guardian which means Ass-P you're going to have to swallow your pride. Forget what some have told you. Get that public guardian because sometimes you have to fold.

If that's true, I can assure you I'm not one of them. And the fact that you're still here means that the mods have chosen (correctly, in my opinion) to not ban you - in which case the only way you'll get banned is if you continue to break forum rules. Basically, you have the power to not get banned. :)

And I absolutely understand your reluctance to accept help from a Public Guardian. It does mean giving up your independence - something you have fought all your life to hold onto - and while I think it's important for you (and others here) to understand that option exists, I personally am not going to pressure you into it.

I dont care what you do. But if I were you, I would try to stay at the rehab place as long as I could. You do your own thing anyways so why do you even care what people here tell you?

It is I who is telling you to do exactly that. Others like goldfish are telling you to work it out yourself. I'm telling you the writing is on the wall and if I was in your position I would go with the care taker and fold your Independence at least for now. Maybe in a few years the story will change but right now Independence is not the most appropriate environment for you. Our society tries to make you feel less of a person for not being independent. f**k society and their values. Get to that caretaker.

Nobody's going to ban ASS-P----unless he does something really drastic. Like call somebody a Nazi, and curse him/her out at the same time. This would possibly lead to a three-day "calm down" ban.

ASS-P's been on here a long time. A real veteran.

I just wish he'd get that apartment with medical services nearby. He already has a "caretaker," so to speak, who doles out the SSDI money about once a week.

They wont ban him period, no matter what he does. Frankly I'm done with him, except to post warnings in any future panhandling threads to warn newbies. I can just imagine the threads he would post if he did get into college asking for loans to pay tuition or help completing projects because he doesnt have the tech he needs and or does not know how to use it.

It's a bit more complicated, because ASS-P has trauma issues related to past institutional experiences.

I'm a PTSD survivor myself, and if someone told me my options were to give up my independence and live with my abuser, or live on the streets, I'd choose the streets as well.

Still, there is a difference between a known rapist vs. a government system that tries to treat patients ethically and fairly, but is less than perfect in its results. Personally, I think institutional care is preferable to homelessness, but that's a decision ASS-P needs to make for himself.

I'm all for that as well, if it can be arranged. Is this something his social worker / caretaker can help him with? How would he go about making that happen?
