It's not even just about Trump. There have been inequities and problems brewing in our country long before he became president.

The challenge is to express the nature of the problem in a patriotic way.

*looks at avatar of Abraham Lincoln* Hopefully doing it without ever breaking the country out into a second Civil War. Although I suppose that was necessary at the time despite how horrible it really was.

The evils of slavery aside the fact that it was Americans killing their own countrymen was pretty damn sad if you ask me. I heard that more Americans died in that war than any other war we fought.

Southerners owe a lot to President Abraham Lincoln because most of the north wanted the captured confederates executed for treason and we were pretty destroyed after the war thanks to union soldiers burning down our towns and farms and leaving us to starve. He decided not to have us executed and made plans to rebuild the south as long as we rejoined the union (which we did). He was a good man.

That's all way in the past. Let's hope we never repeat a stupid war like that ever again regardless of the reason.

Most northern people didn’t want that they pushed Lincoln to talk peace without freeing slaves and passing the 13th amendment. They just wanted peace not revenge.

Some wanted peace and healing, others wanted us to be shot as traitors to the country.
