It is a naive question from me I know, but can someone explain to me what motivates someone to "troll." I can't get my head round why someone would want to be so negative and destructive just for the sake of it. It's totally beyond my comprehension.

So they are to be pitied. Les Miserables. What an empty existence they must have. That is actually very sad.

I didn't notice that they were trolling. There have been quite a few Uberspergs on the forum of late.

I mean that there has been a spate of posts from members who feel themselves to be so refined in their sensibilties and comprehension that are in isolated positions, waiting for the rest of humanity to catch up.

It could make a bad impression If you were taking a look ar WP for the first time.

Edit: Uber is the german word for "over" and "superior".

This part I know.
I rather lack the shade of meaning of "sperg" that the "uber" magnifies.

I actually feel a lot of compassion for those posters. They seem to be trapped in a virtual iron cage of self.

Sperg - an abreviation of Aspergers. Its not a term that I use or particularly like but thought it was alright in this instance.

I don't see them as trolls. They are difficult to reach out to, havig drawn their conclusions and having black and white thinking. Actually, its interesting that they manage to alienate so many other Aspie's or that we mock or ban them, but nobody likes a know it all.

Yes, they don't seem to be aware that they alienate people. It's kind of like self flagellation. Do you know if therapy ever helps these guys? It would take a really enlightened therapist to make a difference, rare as they are.

Sometimes the people who could benefit the most from therapy wouldn't take the opportunity.

The combination of isolation and black and white thinking can spiral out of control. I've had some funny ideas about people in the past, after burning out and being isolated.

I’ve had the same thing happen through isolation.

I became convinced of certain things which contact with other people soon debunked.

But sometimes contacts with real life people are too overwhelming.
That's why we need WP.
