This means a lot for me. Unable to work, hopelessly crappy as a housewife, I'm so thankful for reminding me that what I do has real value

Magz, I was reflecting today about why Alex called our forums here Wrong Planet. I think it was a perfect choice at the time. It communicated something to all of us who had been alienated from the mainstream NT world, and the further impacts of that involving trauma derived from being (and being treated) as outsiders. First the alienation from the daily life of the dominant NT world, and then (unless we have good support from the start, which almost none seem lucky enough to have) alienation from ourselves. Our real selves. A state of double alienation.

How we so readily underrate our inner strength. (Me too). It takes enormous personal strength to cope with the impacts of double alienation. And it is natural that sometimes we are too tired, too stressed, too challenged by immediate circumstances and have to stop directing energy to coping for a time, because it is one spoon too many.

I am always grateful to Alex for creating WP as a haven in every sense. I don't think there is anywhere like Wrong Planet, and I become very distressed when there are any attempts to undermine its core purpose of support. It's an honour and a pleasure for others to offer support, knowing that any one of us may be the next to need it. But some of us will not be courageous enough to ask for it. I am impressed by your courage and example and all you add to WP as a member, and a human being. So thank YOU.
