Next step: stuff it into a herd of pigs and drive them off a cliff. Bible-style!

I'm...sorry for not replying to you in this thread as it pertains to your health. It's just hard to look at this thread and not get worried and anxious about you DnD...

But do know that I'm here and I hope that everything goes well for you! :)

My mom suggested I name the neck/chest mass, I thought quickly and decided to call it Legion, since it’s one mass made up of a bunch of smaller masses.

All joking aside, I hope things go well for you, Miss DnD.

So I saw the oncologist today. She strongly suspects lymphoma as well, and they’re running a bunch more blood work, expecting results today 8O Will report back when I have them.

My Grandma got Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in her 70's, beat it and lived to her 90's. Stay strong Dragonsanddemons, you can get through this as well if the news is bad. Sending you great big hugs!

Thanks for the well-wishes.

Basically a few things we already knew were confirmed, it’s leaning even more in the direction of lymphoma, and Legion is not causing any other issues. So I guess that’s good news, along with the news we were expecting. I’m going to be getting a PET scan to check my other lymph nodes and stuff, and a biopsy of Legion, and based on the results we’ll see where to go from there.

I’ve done a little research on lymphoma. I’m sure, especially in light of your biology degree, you have done some yourself.

Your relative youth gives you a better prognosis.

Really, honestly, a good overall attitude is essential in recovery. You’ve seemed to have acquired a good spirit lately.

Yep, I’m just focusing on the fact that I probably have Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which has a very high treatment success rate (haven’t done much research on non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma since my symptoms, age, and the location of the swollen lymph nodes indicate that it is probably Hodgkin’s) and that while I may have to feel worse before I feel better, at the end of it all it’s all but guaranteed that I will get better. Basically, it’s one of the least scary kinds of cancer, there’s not really a chance of it affecting my lifespan much, so I’m not fretting about it too much.

Biopsy is scheduled for this Thursday, PET scan has been moved up to a week from today. I’m not supposed to have ibuprofen from now until the biopsy (to avoid an increased risk of excessive bleeding), so of course last night while I was asleep I bit the back of my tongue pretty hard and now it really hurts

Yeah...I know what you mean...I tend to bite my tongue a lot, too. It's because I have a couple of teeth which are breaking apart, the enamel very weak. Probably in need of extraction.

I think you have a very healthy mindset for what might be ahead of you Dragons.

And this will help you get through it.

My friend has got through one of the worst (ovarian/lung cancer in her 60's) and mostly due to her attitude.

I also know of others who have got through other cancers deemed serious.

I notice these people have a mindset like yours and eat a healthy diet etc. Basically they listen to their medical team.

Thinking of you at this nail biting time.

Got the biopsy done. They took four samples to be sure they got enough tissue. They said everything went smoothly. Bandage doesn’t come off until tomorrow, can get the area wet for things like showering but can’t submerge it by doing things like taking a bath or swimming for a week - I guess that means it’s a good thing I don’t have the energy to swim anymore, because I was starting to take that up before all this started. It hurts to talk, so I decided to try communicating by texting whoever I want to talk to. No idea how long that will continue for.
