If he's approximately the same age as the OP that's a good age to start thinking for yourself and are malleable enough to adapt your thinking.

@Cubs: I'm glad you resolved the issue tactfully and smartly. That's the best way to communicate and if only more of humanity would resolve their differences in a thoughtful way, we'd be better off as a species.
