I am glad the holiday is over. But - I love having some time off. I work/study obsessively, which I do love, but I had been beyond exhausted so I physically do need the time off. I mostly rested on Christmas Eve and on Christmas I vacuumed my car and drove North during the light part of the day. I love to drive! Then, I played at home by myself (I like to stack blocks, draw). I was sad that the library is closed, a coffee shop I like is closed...sigh. I am a loner, I guess.

Cockney Rebel - I really like that you celebrate each month on the day! I wish I could do that. Is Christmas your favorite holiday? I just don't do holidays. I am one who doesn't have family so I just don't get to. I think I would like to have a friend. New Year's resolution? Find a friend. Well, I think I have friends on WrongPlanet, yes? Cockney Rebel is my friend, there are others too! I like to hear what the others do on the holiday.

During the Holidays, I visit my family in Houston, and I get to eat and shop at some of the stores I like back home (although many of them also have locations in Wichita Falls, where I attend school). And one of the radio stations in Houston plays Christmas music 24/7 from just before Thanksgiving to the end of Christmas Day.

I miss Christmas for the anticipation, the mystery, the excitement, and the sheer joy of knowing that everyone would be on their best behavior for about a week beforehand.

It just isn't the same ... no, not at all ...

christmas is a small and quiet affair in this house, so strictly speakinf - it makes no real difference.

what is hell is that holidays extend for another 5 weeks so i am forced to be in the company of toehrs 24 hours a day and 7 days a week until they finish. this means my meltdowns increase, and i endure this period rather than enjoy it. (it also means there is even MORE pressure on me to STOP my speical interests than the usual. not fun at all.)

It's interesting for me to read what I wrote last year in the original post of this thread...

My Christmas this year was SO MUCH BETTER!! ! :D
Having someone to share it with, instead of being totally alone and rejected, made all the difference.

I'm one of those lucky folks who work on holidays (Holidays? What's that?) and the whole Xmas rush drove me crazy. The crowds, the awful xmas tunes everywhere, me stressing out the gifts for people, the parties, the fact that getting a cab is next to impossible, - i've lost count how many cab drivers i yelled at.

the only bright spot was the personal ref i won at the office xmas party raffle, which i will exchange for my co-worker's tv prize. TV, i love you.

oh yeah, and on xmas day, i get to work from my bedroom, in my pajamas. Another bright spot, but did not totally erase the stress of the season. My PJs, I love you, too.

Next week, i'll have my own tv in my bedroom and I can watch it all wkend in my pajamas. sweet.

It is nice to have the same holiday to look forward to next December.

But I am glad the old routine is back. :D

I went away this Christmas, so it was probably the best Christmas for years :D .

I didn't have to drag my sorry ass all over the country, visiting my dead-beat relatives, who have never got off their backsides to visit me forever, but then moan like hell if I don't turn up at the requisite times of year. Gee, most of them didn't even drag themselves out when I got married. My sorry excuse for a brother hasn't stepped foot in my house for 13 years.

So generally, Christmas is a pain (as is Easter). I do love being at home though, stuffing my face with food, watching mind-numbing TV, and not having to work. Pity about the relative thing ...
