...This is a dead issue now, but CCSF was offering free - or close to it - tuition (Though fees for other parts), you can go read stories about it in the San Francisco Examiner! (I can't do links.)

Well, this thread certainly got interesting again real quick.

I don't think ASS-P wants to die. I think his brain simply doesn't function well enough to enable him to make the correct, healthy, decisions & in turn take the correct actions to heal himself. I don't think his attention span, memory, focus, impulsivity levels, self awareness of his health issues & things he Needs to do for them etc etc are doing him any favours whatsoever. Yes, it's him making all of these errors - his words, his actions etc, however, I don't think any of them are truly intentionally or maliciously self sabotaging. They just.. are.

Here are the things that are necessary for you to do while recovering from a serious illness or ailment:

1.) Heal.

That's it. That's the entire list. EVERYTHING else in life can wait. A working smartphone? Nope. Not worth your health or life. Do without it until you're healthy enought to go deal with it w/o jeopardizing your health. Getting clothes? Nope. It may not be stylish or comfortable, but I'm sure at least a hospital gown is provided. At least while you're there you're getting better regardless of your attire and can deal with finding something warmer/better fitting etc after, you know, STAYING ALIVE. Renewing ID? Who cares. You don't NEED a new ID card in order to heal. You NEED food, water, rest, medicine etc that's IT. Wanting a credit union card? It's nice to want something. You don't need it while you're in a hospital recovering from multiple ailments. Wait and get it when you're out of there.

Same goes for everyone, myself included. If some schmuck crashes his car into mine and I end up in a hospital with injuries, absolutely everything in my entire life instantly goes on hold - NOTHING is more important than healing & recovering. That's the ONLY job I would have to do with my time. Once I was healthy enough to do anything else w/o setting back my healing, THEN I could start getting things done of my list.

At your age of 57 years on this planet you should know those things. Maybe you do know them and your brain functions in such a way that doesn't give you a fighting chances of doing the things you know you're supposed to, even when it's risking your health, and potentially even your life.

At this point the absolute best course of action you could take is to go back to an ER, get admitted, and have them start treating you again. f*****g STAY THERE & then once you prove you're not going to f**k off and eat cheeseburgers maybe they will be able to find you a different recovery/rehab place to go. Someone there may also be able to assist with medi-whatever paperwork for you to be covered by some sort of public insurance plan again. Staying put in the hotel room w/o any way of treating anything you're battling right now is not an ideal option.. multiple things will likely get worse in a matter of days, or less w/ unmanaged diabetes, and then your ONLY option will be going to the ER in an ambulance IF you're not in a diabetic coma and can even make the call.

I believe he does need the ID card. If he doesn't have it, it might make it difficult for him to get shelter should he need it.

He also needs to make sure he is able to continue to draw funds from SSDI. Otherwise, if he's cut off, it could take months for him to be able to receive it again. Social Security does make it hard for benefit recipients. He has to keep on top of that.

Some social workers might be good about this sort of thing, like helping him with ID and SSDI. Others might not be. There's a prejudice against homeless people which renders social workers "not good" at this sort of thing.

He might be out of the hotel now, and back in the streets.

All admirable things BUT it does not matter

The rehab does not care and none of those things are worth your life.

If you are ill enough that you need to be in a treatment facility and they say "if you leave we will kick you out" or something along those lines...even if they just said "It's afainst the rules to leave" then you are trading leaving for being kicked out and you are prioretizing lesser things above your life.

Those things, while important, could have waited, given the consequences, and should have waited.

...I am now back at the hospital - not the rehab, the hospital. I need it. so that's good. I could, in fact, be doing the last of the cheap motel days, but I set things up to go here, I certainly did know I need medical help. Maybe this is off on a better foot now than the relationship with the rehab was, where they seemed rather neglectful on some medical aspects of it.
My legs now are pretty hard to move when it comes to getting up in a bed of from a seated position or the floor  - the edima(Sp?)/CHF :( .

...However, what's not so good is that, as of right now, my luggage and it's contents, a backpack and a rucksack, have disappeared, supposedly they came into the hospital with me, but I didn't see them when I waz in the ER preparation room, and now, as of right now, they did not follow me upstairs to being fully admitted :( . If. that's IF, they disappear forever  , and all my possessions with them, perhaps Goldfish will say how great that is...Afted all, don't some here want me to have even less, so you can feel I' m sufficiently rugged? No phone, no royalty payments...After all, it's good for me.

@ASS-P. You're doing a good thing by checking into the hospital. I don't mean to seem cruel, but your possessions can wait. They can all be regained once you're feeling better.

It's good you're back into the hospital & getting medical attention. Listen to your doctors/nurses etc & don't f**k off chasing cheeseburgers. You NEED to be there to heal, or you might get sicker & die. Blunt facts of the matter.

I never said I didn't want you to have any things. I said it's very freeing to not want to have things & suggested a shift in your perspective towards that IF it is impossible for you to obtain things. Rather than dwell on the things you want, you can think about the freedom you enjoy not having to lug them around, find a place to store them, pay for storage etc.

I also said w/ a little info and a place to direct them to I'd phone the lawyer's office for you and see about having things sent to You so you could have them in an envelope or whatever. Clearly you'd need a stable receiving address where you could receive them, and a pack to put them in. Maybe a plastic folder or something from a dollar store to keep them dry, too.

But right now you're not even sure you own a backpack anymore. Hopefully there wasn't anything ultra sentimental in that pack if it is gone. As for the pack & contents, they're just things. They can likely all be replaced just the same as if they were lost in a fire. You cannot be replaced if you get sick & die. All things can wait, backpack and simple possessions included. I'm sure it's frustrating/annoying/difficult/challenging and all that, but, so what? You'll be alive and well and capable of going on a quest to obtain new things again like you have umpteen times already. Major pita if your ID & any bank cards were in the pack and not on your person, though.. that will be annoying to deal with.

Gf, you are right about everything you have said here. ASS-P you need to stay in the ER, look after your own health and put everything else on hold. There are some things you may have to call it quits on. Espcially don't damned cheeseburgers. QUIT eating them. Stick with the hospital food. More then likely they will serve you salad or something and make sure you drink a lot of water.

I'm glad you sought medical treatment sooner than Monday. Please don't do anything that they will kick you out for.

Just in case ASS-P doesn't fully comprehend why they kicked him out and others will do the same if he behaves the way he has sneaking out, eating junkfood etc.

Doctors/healthcare providers time & expertise is extremely valuable. I'm not talking about their 6 figure salaries. I'm talking about the scarcity of their utility to the economy. Health is wealth & people need healers. If their time and energy is wasted on you because you're not going to follow medical advice and eat only the things you're allowed to eat that will help you heal, and stay put and rest etc, then WTF is the point of them expending their time & expertise treating you when they could be saving someone else' life? THAT's why you have to listen to them and do as they say. They're not trying to "be the boss of you," or "take away your freedoms," or "tell you what to do," for the sake of power/control over you. They're trying to do their best to heal you. Everything they tell you to do is in your own best interest. You might not like or enjoy it, but it's necessary if you're going to improve your health & they're going to help you do it. The more you help yourself by cooperating, the more they'll want to help you and see your health improve, too. The more you resist and f**k off chasing cheeseburgers to "stick it to the man," the more they're likely to say "f**k this guy, get him the f**k out of this room & give the bed to someone who wants to heal and live."

There's a reason we bestow the title of Doctor upon them. They're educated and trained as experts in their various fields & are to be trusted as making the best possible decisions with regards to patient health. They're not perfect nor infalible for they are but mortal humans like the rest of us, but for the most part their word is to be taken as accurate & to be respected, their instructions followed to a T. All the time. Accept this and they'll work with you and you get to heal, be healthier, and live longer and happier and so on. Reject it and you're going to get ever sicker and die sooner rather than later.

This is a very nasty reply to folks who clearly care about what happens to you (KK and RR at the top of the list, but GF is certainly on it too). Nobody here is the reason your stuff was taken.

For what its worth, I think its bs that you are treated like this with regard to your things, and that those who threw out your clothing and other things comitted criminal destruction of someone elses property. You have a mouth, and its good for more than scarfing burgers. ASK SOMEONE WHAT HAPPENED TO IT.

100% agreed. My wife, who is a care provider and who has worked in the type of place that ASS P was kicked out of, says that is the reason (sneaking out to get junkfood and thus compromising his treatment) he was kicked out.

Nah, you shouldn't be.

ASS-P's terrible communication style & habits result in the negative responses he gets. He gets them from me, a lot, too.

Besides, you're 17. I'm 35. Live and learn. We can all learn to tolerate "rough around the edges" people a little better, and to be compassionate towards them - especially in their darkest, and last, hours.

Agreed. Ez is right, and should not be ashamed of his posts. One would think that after your testicles swell to the point that you can use them as a hoppity hop that mabye you need to change your ways...Perhaps thats how he intends to get around a college campus come to think of it...
