One of my professors is so moody that I don't know how to avoid upsetting her...she's even angry that, weeks ago, a young child innocently pointed out one of her flaws :?

She's teaching my class over racial and cultural sensitivity. I don't know how much I'll learn about how to be more understanding, from a professor who seems disgusted by half the questions students ask her

Sometimes I get completely overwhelmed by life and drink wine and stuff. Tonight is one of those nights.

I'm better off dead.

I don't have a future, and I don't want one. I don't care.

They can't notice your capability because you don't have the experience. You don't have the experience because there's simply no opportunity to have the experience :x

^ If you're talking about employment, have you considered volunteering? I've become involved in a couple of ventures myself, both to give back to the community which has helped me so much and also so I can sneakily gain experience and knowledge in my chosen field (alcohol/drug treatment and mental health.) It's a strange, incremental process- though I can relax a bit knowing that simply by being involved, my 'experience' level increases in time.
I also sometimes engage in informal career prep through free online courses, training etc. so I can pad out my resume.

A rant/rave all in one-- learning to mix/master my own songs... It's incredibly fun and engaging, though I'm bashing my head against a wall of sound and finding that turning the guitars down by a couple of decibels brings the vocals out, but then I lose the punchiness of the drums and the overall energy, so I fiddle around a bit more and destroy it further
Working by setting all the levels a lot lower than I normally would and making the gain up through a bit of compression and normalising the output has resulted in a nice sound, you can hear everything, but I've still got a way to go before I can produce the polished sound I'm after.
Naturally, the more involved I get, the more I want to throw money at upgrading my equipment. Currently fiending over a ~$5,000 analog/firewire mixing console and a decent collection of microphones

TL;DR: Arjay- volunteering! It's good!
Music! Expensive! Even gooderer!

Most Fridays I check out the pawn shops in the area for any new music gear, right?
Well today there was a Farfisa organ for $20! $20!! !
Some of the faders had broken off etc but it worked and sounded AMAZING, and would compliment my upright Farfisa cabinet organ perfectly. I zeroed in on it, but there was an old bloke standing there who said 'nope, it's mine.'

Of course, I had to defer, fair being fair and all. I stuck around hoping that the inbuilt speakers wouldn't work so I could try running directly from the auxillary outputs, but much to my chagrin everything was in order and the guy walked out with it.

I said that he was incredibly lucky to pick that up at such a great price, and he offered to sell it to me... for $250.

He's neither a musician nor a collector. He just wanted to make some quick cash. Worse yet, I ummed and ahhed about which store to go to first for the couple of minutes that would have otherwise seen me walk straight in and out with a new toy and a legitimate addition to my arsenal of analog instruments.

People should post unwritten rules on a posters. On a sheet of paper and put it on the walls. On a board or bulletin. Or whatever that people could see it. :x

Heh. "Common sense". More like neurotypical-centric sense.

I had an appointment last week to see my PCP. One of the se jets he brings up is the results on my blood and urine tests. The lab has found blood in my urine. He orders an ultrasound for this past Monday and refers me to a urologist. I get a call from his office this past Wednesday stating they saw kidney stones on the ultrasound. I saw the urologist this afternoon, and he takes another urine sample and does another ultrasound on my bladder, to see if it is emptying fully. He also gives me a prostrate exam, which is negative for cancer. I am now scheduled next month for both a CT scan and a cystoscope, as well as given a prescription for cipro.

To make matters even worse, my landlord calls me and read me the riot act for having a guest stay overnight on 2 occasions this week. (Only fair, as I raised hell about people staying overnight.). The landlord have neighbors watching the place at all times and reporting back to him. I'm just going to have to tell this guy (I lived with him and his mom about 2 years ago), not to visit, on pain of eviction, which I can't afford to have happen. If he needs to visit, do it at his mom's or at the grocery store.

Volunteering, I guess you can present yourself to them and say yes, because you're not getting paid at all!! Besides, I like to work that is my passion as well, so I think I'm going to consider this. Thanks.

Run EVERYTHING through a bunch of compressors. Clip your mix like crazy. That's how you get a "modern" sound. :P If it doesn't sound like this, you're doing something wrong:

The YouTube upload doesn't do it justice though, because of some automatic volume limiting they apply or something. Basically, just imagine that, but twice as loud and you get the picture.
