It is beautiful outside, and cool, high 60s (like I will be in a few years, but never mind). I just finished microwaving an omelette and have to get underway, so much better to work outside in this than in 90 degree heat.

See y'all later. Thank goodness. Hugs all around.

You're a sweet lady, of course.

I can't even conceive of "microwaving an omelette" LOL

Maybe I need to get a little more flexible

Foxes make funny noises.

I really enjoyed watching Hogfather. I love the humor. The way Hogswatch sounds like hogwash. The sleigh being driven by flying pigs. Children leaving out pork pies. I'm glad I found those movies. Now I'll have to start reading the books.

It's more like a frittata TBH - I have some oval ramekins.

Image

And a lot of omelette fixin's frozen, stuff like diced ham, diced peppers, onions, individual portions of bacon. So I cook those first, then add the egg and shrooms if I'm doing shrooms, season and microwave again.
Since the ramekin is oval, there's the usual "cold spot" in the middle, which I deal with by halving the omelette after that, stacking it, with cheese between the layers, turning the stack so the "cold" side is on the outside, and nuking it one more time.

Sounds complicated, isn't really, takes less time and electricity than conventional fry pan. And you can eat it right out of the ramekin, which is already warmed. One dish to wash, one fork, what's not to love?

;-)

when I'm feeling really fancy I use a regular ramekin, add a bit of flour, nuke several cycles with power increasing on each one, and get a souffle.

Different folks will have different favorite places to start, but I was lucky and got "Guards! Guards!" and Wyrd Sisters loaned to me first, in that order. After which I bought up as many as I could find ASAP.

The movies are true to the original books because Pratchett refused to surrender creative control over the script. And would not go near Hollywood. Where, IIRC, some idiot wanted to remove Death as a character. (!) So what you watch is what's on the page, as near as makes no nevermind. Hurrah!

That was a horrible idea since Death is about the best character in both movies, with some of the best lines, that only Death could deliver.

Quite different, but I like this version of Death too:

Typical Hollywood. But he managed to keep his work safe from them.

Hollywood completely destroyed The Jungle Book, among others, as well - the feature length cartoon bears no resemblance whatsoever to Kipling's short stories. Ugh, to be a kid, and see that without ever having read the actual book, and think it was what Kipling actually wrote... aieeeeee, brain bleach stat!

^Neil Gaiman ran into some problems when he was approached by some Hollywood producers about a movie of his book, Anasi Boys, and the first thing they asked was "Is there any way we can make him [Anasi] white?" :wall:

I've been working on Book 2, irregularly, in between house showings. There's showings booked for tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday, and then we leave for four days for my eye checkup and relative visit. I'm so tired.

She might be busy. Probably shellacking all her antique wood :)

But I hope Esme is okay. "To Esme...with Love."
