Pointless Thread of Death
We used to have a very creaky floor so you could always hear someone approach.
About 10 years ago we replaced the floor and I haven't heard it since.
I've also had an invisible someone whisper in my ear, which scared the bejesus outta me, since I could feel the sudden air pressure.
Have no idea what that was about.
I had the invisible but loud whisper as well, about a month after my father died. It either said "Marian" (which is my aunt's name, and she was diagnosed with cancer within days), or "marry him" (I was with a boyfriend who was asleep). I really hope it was Marian because the guy was a waste of space.

I read that spirits often communicate in a high-pitched whisper. but my late father communicated with his normal speaking voice to my mother and me after he passed, and did so simultaneously [both me and mom heard our respective names shouted at the same time, rousing us both from sleep. it is also possible that some hauntings are residual energy aka the subtle body left behind when the physical body shuffles off its spirit or astral body. some emotional incidents leave great echoes behind.
That's interesting and it reminds me of another story. Years after my dad passed I went to my mother's house (where he had lived), and wasn't thinking of him at all. As I walked in the door I heard him say "hello!" from the direction where he used to sit, and his voice was loud enough to carry across the vestibule / room. The intonation and the accent of his voice were spot on, in a way that I hadn't even remembered until I heard it spoken. He always had a rather melancholy way of saying "hello" with boredom in his voice, but I couldn't conjure it until this moment. Whether this was an echo or conscious I don't know, but it was incredible. Another time about a year ago at my house I had a friend visiting and we were both reading quietly when suddenly another voice said "hey!" We both looked up and we both heard it from the same area of the room.

very interesting
did you reply at least in thought, when you heard him say "hello"? it should be noted that time in the spirit world is different from earthly time, he could communicate with you any time of day or night, now or decades later, just the same. it mebbe was his way of saying "don't forget me, i'm still around."
I know this sounds strange but when my best friend passed away I would continue to have conversations with him in my mind. I never heard his voice because we chatted on the computer so in my head I would imagine the conversations I would want to type to him and it was as if he would reply back exactly like he did when he was still alive.
I have not experienced that lately though. ![]()

I don't recall answering, but I can still hear it as clear as a bell.
You know how it's hard to picture someone's exact voice unless you hear it? It was like that. The tone and intonation were uncanny. My mother says she's seen him at the foot of her bed. I don't disbelieve anything. I doubt the dinosaurs would have believed internet was possible. It's all a matter of time and science.

I kind of think part of it could have simply been wishful thinking on my part and I knew him very well and knew exactly how he would respond to anything I said.
I still miss him.

my late mother says when her mother died, she saw her head floating in the dark hallway at night when she got up to go to the bathroom.

I've read it (I think). Is it the one where the woman sees a little girl? Hard to explain, but a classic.
My mother's mother died in childbirth of my youngest auntie because she got gangrene poisoning. She was declared dead and was revived. She talked about a rose garden in heaven and she knew exactly what all the members of her family were doing during the experience of her death.

it is a compendium of anecdotal retellings regarding people describing how they were the recipients of unmistakable signs from their recently departed loved ones. I give it to people I know who experienced the deaths of ones dear to them. it is a source of comfort, and your grandmother's tale of the heavenly rose garden is indescribably lovely.
