Honestly, I envy those members here on Wp that are better at the social aspect of the online nature of WP.Often I find that I'm tearing myself apart(symbolically that is) as, I sometimes fail to be able to make myself heard or understood without a misunderstanding or merely being seen as having an IQ of 70 or lower..Anyways, I do keep telling myself that all people are good at things and no one is perfect for, perfection only exists in the world of nature itself.I can't say more for it would be more or less just a collection of scribble & scrabble...

I do envy those who are smarter, particulary if they have been able able some advanced stuffs. Also those who are able to do something of their lives.

You just have to keep at it, you know. Remember that anything in life worth accomplishing is a struggle. Relationships, art, family, career ...

the problem is that the ones advertising their quasi-normal lives [girlfriends, successful careers, high social functioning] on WP, make it sound as though there is absolutely NO struggle whatsoever in their lives, just like they are coping with life as easily and naturally as they are breathing. IOW they seem to be bragging that life is EASY for themselves. either that or they are damned good actors playing the part of the life of riley. if they are only acting, then that is infuriating to me, in that it makes it seem like they WANT people to envy them.

Dear auntblabby sir, I found this to be quite realistic as, all people have difficulties in their lives whether it was in the past, present, or unseen future so, it's not accurate to make others think life is a garden of eden..I'm not saying that there is no serenity of one's life but, you have to be honest with yourself and others in that I,myself have had troubles from time to time and still do but, I try not to surgar-coat my existence.Anyways, I feel I''ve made myelf look fooliish and inept with this post though, simply wanted to express my opinion..

Btw, Alex, the WP founder, himself projects a such quasi-normal life as well....

Or they just don't talk about their struggles and they like to hide them to make it look like they are tough and they got through it.

I think ppl should remember that what the world considers "accomplishing things" is not all there is to having a happy life. One can "accomplish" a lot in the traditional sense and still have a mess of a personal life because of AS. I would venture to guess that most ppl here are not here to "impress" anyone with how easy they have it. What would be the point? I would say that if someone is here, they are coping with *some* sort of difficulty that they either want to learn more about or get some support with, or maybe they've dealt with some of the same issues in the past and want to offer support. It may not be the *same* kind of issue as someone else is dealing with, but I doubt anyone would waste his or her time posting on an AS message board just to make other ppl envious.

Personally, I envy anyone, here or not, who doesn't make a friggin' mess of it every time they try to communicate emotional things and have it either not come out at all or come out all wrong. But I try not to waste my time being envious.

League_Girl, that makes a great amount of sense for, not all people are going to readily admit to troubling aspects of his/her lives but, I can understand one does not wish to come off as some Agonizing Aunt by any means

no foolishness, no ineptitude i can see :)
the point of my little diatribe was that it seems to me there is a bit of big fish in little pond/big man on little campus phenomena going on in WP, with some very high-functioning types using this forum as a networking club. i don't object to that part of it, but i do get bent out of shape when people are threading misery and somebody comes along in the middle of it and says they live the life of riley. i can't point out individual threads and posts, 'cause not that organized to log and copy each post when i see it. mostly because i'm peeved at that point and especially when i'm peeved i am really not thinking well enough to do much of anything other than be peeved. now i'm the one who looks inept and foolish. oh well, such is life. i'm tired.

The only thing I can add is that there is probably one or 2 people here on WP that I actually envy but, that is the extent of that behavior pattern of mine for, I simply try to remain diplomatic...

I don't envy anyone. Some things are meant to be, some are not, and I'm not going to beat myself up everyday thinking about what I do or don't have compared to other people. "Let things flow", as the saying goes.

There are people better off and worse off than you. Whether or not you decide to tip the scales in your favor is a matter of doing something about it instead of complaining about how much life sucks because you can't get this or can't do that.
