You just have to keep at it, you know. Remember that anything in life worth accomplishing is a
struggle. Relationships, art, family, career ...
the problem is that the ones advertising their quasi-normal lives [girlfriends, successful careers, high social functioning] on WP, make it sound as though there is absolutely NO
struggle whatsoever in their lives, just like they are coping with life as easily and naturally as they are breathing. IOW they seem to be bragging that life is EASY for themselves. either that or they are damned good actors playing the part of the life of riley. if they
are only acting, then that is infuriating to me, in that it makes it seem like they WANT people to envy them.
I think ppl should remember that what the world considers "accomplishing things" is not all there is to having a happy life. One can "accomplish" a lot in the traditional sense and still have a mess of a personal life because of AS. I would venture to guess that most ppl here are not here to "impress" anyone with how easy they have it. What would be the point? I would say that if someone is here, they are coping with *some* sort of difficulty that they either want to learn more about or get some support with, or maybe they've dealt with some of the same issues in the past and want to offer support. It may not be the *same* kind of issue as someone else is dealing with, but I doubt anyone would waste his or her time posting on an AS message board just to make other ppl envious.
Personally, I envy anyone, here or not, who doesn't make a friggin' mess of it every time they try to communicate emotional things and have it either not come out at all or come out all wrong. But I try not to waste my time being envious.
