No, they wont do it against your will. They can if you're in the hospital but you're just going to therapy. It's up to you, nobody will chase you, if you want help you need to get it yourself...that's what I've learned. haha

alright well that's good, and all they meant by that was probably they have to intervene if you say your going to cause harm to yourself or others.....which at that point its probably a good thing.

Yeah, that goes with every therapist though, everything stays confidential unles it's about hurting others.

or yourself, at least that is what I was told.......I first went to counseling after attempting suicide though so that might have been part of it.

What makes you stronger is to keep on trying until you succeed.

As for being more positive, if you cannot do it conciously, train your unconcious by doing what I mentionned earlier

Quote:
Like writing every day several times: I am able to find and keep a job, and the right job for me will come to me.
If writing does not appeal to you, you could repeat it out lout 25 or more times (I think it takes about 20 for the unconcious to register and acccept the information)

you can use any affirmation you want.
I can overcome my PTSD, I can stop feeling depressed, I can stop feeling anxious...
Nothing comes without working and aspies do have to work twice as hard...that makes us stronger.

Succeed at what exactly, I mean honestly things seem pretty pointless......I try not to think that but, I feel that way so much I just don't even see success as part of the picture. I just want to survive so I don't hurting friends and family by offing myself and not be in quite so much mental torment all the time. but I cannot say you're wrong, I am just not in a position to think that way I guess.

repeat what out loud? I guess I will have to go back and see what you other post said because I missed that part.

I would prefer not to tell myself things I don't believe......honestly that usually makes me feel worse. Because what I am really thinking is I wish I could not be so effected by all this....and then I dwell on it. So usually I try and just think about things in terms of how will I live my life with PTSD, depression and anxiety that way I don't end up putting so much pressure on myself to over-come it and then beat my self up when I can't get over it. And work twice as hard at what everything? if so it seems like more of a curse than a blessing especially for those of us who have depression and other mental illnesses to complicate things even more.

I am sure Sweetleaf will find something soon. She's pretty opinionated on these boards to get into a job easily!

Sweetleaf, all I can suggest is that you keep trying! You have something to give to this world.

So what if you lose another full time job. If it works out great, if it doesn't then you try something else. It's not as if you spent years studying to get into a field. You would have to get your mental issues resolved before attempting something beyond a McJob though. The professional world is brutal.

I never had a full time job...the last one I had was a temporary job with hours close to full time but the other two were more part time. Also the something else I've tried is college that did not work either. Not sure what else to try other then part time or seasonal work or SSI, as for now I think I should try and find resources to help me with maybe getting diagnosed and offer therapy/treatment options to help I think that's a step in the right direction......or hopefully it is.

I don't think I could ever work fast enough or deal with customers well enough to work at Mcdonalds.......slower paced jobs would probably work out better. And I think I might avoid the professional world more or less as it sounds like it would make me pretty paranoid.

Its kind of difficult to explain how much that interferes.

But maybe I'd be more able to work and have more energy for it if I can get some of my psychological issues addressed...which I will try and do.

I have had to paint interior rooms before. It's boring, but very mechanical and much preparation (taping over things not to paint). It wasn't hard, but I didn't find it enjoyable. If the floaters in my eyes didn't annoy me to no end while painting, I'd save money by painting my own rooms.

Have you tried getting work cleaning other people's houses? Even a slow, but thorough maid should be able to price herself right and get some work.

Find wild weed and sell it? I think you need to live out in the sticks to find that any more.

I would not mind doing that, and I did look on craigslist as well as other job search sites I found on google and only found ads that said a car and drivers license would be required.

wild weed? I don't think there is much of that around.....but no I do not want to sell such things. I mean I could already face legal consequences if caught with it or smoking it but from what I hear its much, much worse to get caught selling it.

You need a way to get to/from the work site with the materials.

I hope things work out for you. At least you still have youth on your side.

At my age it looks really bad having no education or work history. Like you I also don't drive either.

I've been thinking about working more lately. I can just mooch off of my mother forever but someday she is going to be gone and then I'll be screwed. I don't see how I can get a job though as I don't like to do things like talk to people or leave the house on a regular basis. Applying for ssi seems hopeless as I don't have a diagnosis and I think you need id at some point when applying which I don't have and can't get.

It doesn't matter if you like those things or not. If you can learn to deal with it and force yourself to do those jobs, you should.

If you do not want to repeat affirmations to yourself, you can make postersto put in your bedroom.

One can say: I am able to find and keep a job.
Another one can say: I feel confident and happy

Put them in a spot you often look at. Write them in big letters with a colour you like.

Like I said I prefer not to constantly tell myself things I don't belive that includes looking at statements I don't belive...I mean thus far my experiances say I cannot find and keep a job and that I cannot feel confident and happy. Sorry that just does not help me, I can't just delude myself into a positive mindset.
