Apparently according to a former mod's pubic declaration, I get reported for being "snarky troll" all the time. I think most of what I post that gets interpreted that way isn't intentional on my part. Usually it's just me trying to get a point across.

I’ve had haven posts reported even just the number between-10 and 10 posts.
I can only imagine how many reports there are every week for me. Certain people just want to get those they disagree with banned and silenced.

umm.... pubic declaration?

It was declared in a thread. Along with other details only staff should be aware of.

Ezra, Ezra .... Check for typos! :idea:

I'm checking and not seeing any. Nor is spellcheck picking up on any other than our usernames and "umm".

It’s the type of declaration you made. You’re missing an “L” mid-word.

I wish I had seen that first , you've definitely been got by the short and curlies :lol:

No wonder why the mods are getting worn out.

It's a thankless job , I have no idea what's involved but it appears that the majority of a mod's time is taken up dealing with petty squabbles & tit for tat comments which means that the odd occasional psychopath can ingrain themselves here waiting to strike :roll:

How do you find these pictures?? In this case, what did you do - just google “pubic spectacle”?

I have a lot of 'Pubic Knowledge' and these are on 'Pubic Display' in my personal collection but just so you know I do not like 'Pubic Displays' of affection.

Boring answer : I knew what I wanted a picture of so I just googled glasses made of hair.

On a thread which is now locked, I complimented jimmy_m for being a very nice person (emphasis in the original). It was not jimmy's thread, but I think that's beside the point. My complimentary post was deleted.

The moderator warned me because he/she thought I was being sarcastic towards jimmy. I said no, I really think he is one of the most helpful and sincere people we have in the forums. I was moved to compliment him because he is more compassionate than I am, and I admired that. The moderator said "well why did you put it in italics, then?"

The whole thing has blown over, but I did want my compliment to be recorded here, and I also wanted to point out that as much as we autistics are often noticed for not seeing when someone is being sarcastic, it's also possible that we may see sarcasm that wasn't really there, or not really ever intended.

I am pointing this out because I think we could all benefit by being aware of this mistake. Most of us have been ridiculed and bullied many, many times, which I think might make us oversensitive so we perceive ill intent where none is intended.

I'm sorry you were given an incorrect warning.

That said, posting in italics when being sarcastic is very common. You don't have to be aspie or bullied to think it's sarcasm.
I showed the text to a couple of NT relatives, and they all thought it was sarcasm.

On the one hand, posting in italics is how many of us place emphasis on a specific word, phrase, or sentence.

On the other hand, posting something in quotation marks -- like "Honest Politician" - is how some of us express sarcasm.

On the gripping hand, if the recipient AND the poster both agree that there was no sarcasm, then there was no sarcasm.

If there is a take-home lesson in this incident, it might be that it's important when you feel dissed to discuss it calmly and rationally, without blaming, so any misunderstandings can be corrected.

That feels a WHOLE LOT BETTER than keeping the hurt inside. (no particular tone associated with the all-caps ... just wanted emphasis!)

This also seems to work for me:

[sarcasm=example]

<* insert sarcasm here *>

[/sarcasm]

Except in my case, apparently I would have to use:

[nosarcasm=example]

<* insert nosarcasm here *>

[/nosarcasm]

How about this?

[opinion=mine]

<* insert opinion here *>

[/opinion]

I've had to use that one a few times, too.

too elaborate; I prefer the succinct "imho."

If I had used [opinion=mine]...[/opinion] notation when saying jimmy m was a very nice person, it's almost insulting... as if calling him nice is potentially controversial.
