I don't think there were too many girls on zOMG. I don't think she was a zOMG girl anyway, if she was bullied by them or depressed, if they zOMG people aren't depressed. It's possible she was secretly friends with Alex and didn't want the zOMG people to know because they of course hate Alex...

For the record, if I die, don't forbid people from talking about me! I'm a narcissist and a public person and I'll haunt you forever!

Oh, and they bully depressed people because they're depressed themselves!

She was friends with me until they got involved with her.

edit: I apologize about my previous statement that could have been misinterpreted as me placing blame on anyone else for her death. I was just upset and angry about the loss of Sophie and my statement did not make clear that I'm not really placing blame on anyone, just very upset and sad that this happened. I guess the confusion arose out of being in the process of grieving. It was a very emotionally charged time for many of us here at Wrong Planet.

you cant blame yourself. its not your fault. Blaming yourself or others wont help and isnt realistic

I understand that you're upset. Many are. Many of those that you blamed, as well. She was not bullied, at least not there. People cared about her a great deal.

You're right I'm upset. I lost a friend. And I realize that many other people have as well.

Maybe if the people I mentioned weren't so busy trolling WP and being hateful, they would have been able to actually support her, like I had been doing until people decided it was more fun to bash people and convinced her of the same.

I'm not blaming them for her committing suicide. I am, however, blaming those people for emotionally abusing her. Maybe this will be a wakeup call to the people who did this to her.

Maybe they'll come back to WP and begin adding to the supportive environment instead of attempting to destroy it. Or at the least, just keep to themselves instead of trying to corrupt our vulnerable members.

I really am glad that we are able to help people find a place to fit in. I get frustrated when other people try to destroy that.

People there tried to reach out to her, not all of them are trolls. Those that are, though I may not agree with many or all of their action, they're still human beings.

I'm guessing the trolling has dropped a great deal. People really came together after it happened, tried to help those still around that were suffering because of it. She was not emotionally abused there. She was offline, but not there.

I'm not disagreeing with you here, but she did have friends there. Friends that she talked with a lot, that were there for her, and that she was there for as well. What they are doing now is not about "corrupting," I'm not really sure what it is about, but not corrupting.

Thanks for taking what I said out of context by the way.

I don't see how it was out of context.

Unfortunately, people are using this as yet another excuse to troll. I find it so hateful that they would use her death as an excuse to do more of the same. "Friends" is what they represented themselves as. I'm not debating that. What I'm saying is despite what they may have thought, real friends support you and don't foster an environment of conflict. I find this so tragic since we did talk a lot with each other. She sought me out as a mentor and looked up to me. As time went by, In order to fit in with her "friends" (as you call them) she was pressured to publicly say hateful things about me (despite her real feelings). You can call that a group of "friends" but that's where we disagree.

She was on a good track until they got involved. She was a respected moderator on WP and a good friend. She had a lot of things starting to go right in her life. Then people who are jealous of WrongPlanet's success decided to take advantage of her vulnerability and convinced her to do destructive things like spamming the board.

As is often the case, Alex and I are not in complete agreement about this. Personally, I feel that this was inevitable, and I’m not inclined to blame others, directly or indirectly. No one wants to see this sort of thing happen, and I try to take the optimistic view that each of us, using our unique skills and talents, tried to do what we could to help her. The suicide rate among young aspies is considerably higher than that of the general population. That is why I continue to support the idea that WrongPlanet is a support site first and its social functions are a secondary consideration.

Due to technical difficulties, I have not received notification about this topic for several hours. It was Alex’s decision to lock it, and while he made it clear to me by IM that I am free to unlock it if I feel that’s best, I am inclined to respect his decision.
