Does anyone else feel like leaving WP sometimes?
If WP isn't meeting our needs how can we fix it?
Life ebbs and flows like the tide, sometimes full, sometimes low. Our experiences with WP are no different. I think it is perfectly natural for us to have times when WP ia annoying or unsatisfying and it is best to just ride through these times.
Tim, I always smile when I notice you welcoming someone to WP - you put me to shame. I also notice that your posts tend to be short and I wonder if it would help us all to get to know you better if we started to hear a bit more about what you think about things. I've noticed that people like Gavin, who is pretty open, make it easier for the rest of us to feel connected.
I felt uncomfortable a wee while ago when it seemed that some people were being very critical of others but I feel like this has toned down (thankfully), either that or I'm just visiting more friendly parts of WP.
Sending warm fuzzies to all who need them.....

So many postsseem to be so negative these days. That is all forums, not just the haven. I used to come here to find something positive - lately there isn't much to choose from
What sorts of things are you looking for positive things about?
Why not start a few positive threads....
Your BEST day - and why?
Best Compliments you've been given.
Even a Complement the Person above (I think we already had something similar).

The Long Goodbye Topic
I hope no one leaves, as I enjoy reading all the posts that I can. I do feel empathy with persons who are depressed, but I am not sure anything I would say would help. For myself, I usually keep my problems to myself. I like WP because I can communicate and be with people on a Print level which is where I feel safe and where I am most articulate.
I have posted about 183 times. Most of my posts are stand alones. This is what happens when I try to talk to others. It is nothing new. But I can always go back and reread what others have said and think a little more. In real time in a verbal group when the group ends there is no memorial and no record it ever happened. WP is like a good book I can reread anytime I want. I wish something like this had been around when I was young (I am 53 now). But at least I am happy. I wish the best for others. Perhaps I am easier to satisfy because of my age, experience, education, and the fact that I lived in a static hard copy print world for so long. WP is moving, and changing, but you can rewind the film, or flip the pages back, to see where you have been.
Wow

If I wasn't on these forums I'd just be playing Diablo II... so it's like a lose-lose situation for me. I'm going to spend an overwhelming amount of time doing inactive activities, and there's nothing I can do about it.
I mean I go to a gym 3 times a week, so it's not like I'm just sitting here all the time.
Yes, I feel like leaving sometimes. I think I feel just too comfortable here, although I don't post as often as I used to, I just stick to a few threads now, trying to cut down my time here, plus I have a back problem at the moment which stops me sitting here, reading lots of threads. I've been at WP for a while and now I am trying to take what I have learned here about being AS into NT world. If only RL was as Aspie-friendly as this place!
My problem here is that it takes me a long time to get to know people, then when I do, they leave and I miss them, and I have to start all over again. It's an almost overwhelming thing sometimes, this 'change of people' (and probably very AS!
)
I don't really mind what people post, if this is the only place they can talk about feeling depressed or whatever, and it helps (and I've done that here in the past too, and it has really helped to know that people do understand) If I'm in the kind of mood where I don't want to read negative stuff, then I just leave those alone.
Tim, I think you are a very helpful presence here and I often notice you and other posters who are welcoming, positive and encouraging but I don't often say anything...I guess there are many members who feel like this, but we let things pass, or don't have the time to talk to everyone we'd like to. But that doesn't mean you're not appreciated. The same also goes for Kilroy and everyone who's feeling a little burnt out. Sometimes you can post something that really connects with someone else, even if they don't mention it, it's still helpful.

Love your post Starr, it helped me today. I notice the changes in who posts and sometimes it really throws me. Change in any form is a real challenge. Thanks

Tim_tex, I agree 100% with what Obre? said about you...Funny, not sure why, but when I go through posts, etc...the only face that I remember is yours...So, if left tomorrow, the only "face"/person I would associate with this site is you...hmmm...
You know, I came here because it brought me peace to express myself, to ask questions about things I've done, felt, etc...and I have never felt judged by anyone here. Seems that in ALL other forums I've been, I've ended up making someone so angry that I have just left.
Sadly, I do post sometimes about "depressing stuff"...but you know, it seems that there are few people out there who listen like the people here.
Anyway, I have and do enjoy reading everything here...and even my husband who used to constantly complain about me being on the computer gives me a break and NEVER complains when I am here...he has noticed that it brings me peace and has helped me tremendously and it's actually helped our relationship as well.
Although there seems to be different people posting here than last year, I guess I can start over in talking to everyone.

To those people who don't like depressed people posting: you should try being depressed some time. It really, really sucks. It is something that I fight against at all costs, because I remember how bad it was the last time I let it overtake me.

I know; same here! I am exactly the same; I need to keep it away at all costs because when it overtook me it was too terrible to imagine and it's too terriboe to imagine it happening again. The Haven is there for a REASON. I also think one of the staff here even called it a support site.
I mainly am only on here in the winter months and usually only days I am stuck at home because of snow such as yesterday. If someone is depressed this is the last place they should be because its unhealthy for them. They should be out in town interacting with others or at least outdoors doing a physical activity. I do find it both humorous and disturbing how so many undiagnosed people on here work themselves into a tizzy obsessing about Aspergers when they don't even know that they have it.
